A difficult family life has left him carelessly indifferent and a bit cold. Until someone gets past the surface... History: His name is Akuma. He was born Arashi Tenshi during a very brief marriage between his Japanese father and his American mother. His brother, Akari, was born at the same time and only their father knows which is the older of the two. As soon as the twins began attending school, their mother, a new age free spirit, divorced their father and moved back to America, leaving her boys behind to be raised by their controlling father. Akari responded to the challenge by becoming the model son, earning perfect scores in school and devoting his free time to learning his father's business. Akuma was another story. And the constant comparison to his twin by their father, always in the light that he was lacking where Akari wasn't, only added to the problem. Akuma moved out of the house when he started his first year of high school and hasn't really been back since. Since graduating a year ago, he has found a job working at a motorcycle repair shop and a home training younger children at the local dojo. College isn't in his plans. He's been training in the martial arts since he was a child, an area he found he excelled in and teaching at the dojo in the evenings lets him pass on both his knowledge and his love of the art. He loves working with the children, the only time he's entirely relaxed and himself is during the classes with them. Most of the rest of the world finds him casually indifferent, a young man with a cold attitude and a sharp temper and he makes no apology for that. As a matter of fact, Akuma makes no apology for any area of his life. As for his family - when his mother returned to the States she remarried almost immediately and had a little girl. Kiko is Akuma's half sister and for some reason the two of them bonded from almost the first instant they saw each other. Since then their relationship has only grown stronger. This is possible in large part thanks to Kiko's father, an affluent business man who has not only the means to cater to his wife's latest interest but also to see that her older son has access to their younger daughter. Akuma adores his little sister and the two of them spend a great deal of time communicating through any means on hand at the moment. It's as if Kiko has finally filled the place Akuma's twin should have. Akari and Akuma have an uneasy alliance, one lending the other support without their father's knowlege when its needed but their relationship has never been close. Both twins feel its lack but have never managed to find a way around the differences that separate them. Akuma cares for his mother but in the way one would care for someone with slight mental problems. He would never trust her for anything. Not after being 'left behind'. And as for Akuma's father - Akuma considers his father unbending and impossibly demanding, not a far cry from the truth. And Akuma's father considers him a disappointment, a result of his flightly mother's influence. Both father and son are stubborn to a fault and tend to see things in black and white. Any kind of reconciliation has never even been considered. Akuma is both very sure of who he is and yet still slightly under the shadows his father cast over him when he was younger, sure that he measures up to his own standards but not sure he would measure up to anyone elses. Hence his gruff exterior. His friends are few but loyal beyond words to the man they know wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice anything for them and the children he teaches at the dojo adore him as strongly as he loves them. Akuma has never been romantically involved with anyone and girls that are interested in him find him amazingly oblivious to their attention. He's happy with his life the way it is and he's worked too hard to get it that way to let it go easily.
