Physical Description: Like most of the nobility, Liu is somewhat slender, almost soft due to a lack of extreme physical activity. But he is also taller than most, and that quality along with his narrow, almost black eyes makes him quite intimidating when serious. Gray streaks his ebony hair at the temples, brought on by the stresses of life at Court, but his face as yet shows nothing of the ravages of time. He is not beautiful, but he has been accused of being rather handsome on some occasions, by the more adventurous "ladies" present at Court.
He is commonly seen garbed in brocaded black robes, suitable to one of such rank, belted with sashes of Green and red to show his ranking as a learned member of the Emperor's advisory staff.

Family and Friends: Lord Liu has only one official wife, by the name of Soune - the other women of his household are either concubines or servants. His mother lives on the family estate in western Hokkan, while Liu and his chosen entourage remain in the capital to serve at the palace.

Skills and Abilities: Liu is quite skilled at tactical analysis, and has led more than his share of military campaigns in his lifetime (outside of Hokkan, mostly). He is a fully trained warrior, more skilled than most men currently calling themselves soldiers at the palace, but he prefers to remain at court and use his knowledge of both tactics and the world outside of the realms of the Four Gods to strengthen the base of the royal family. - His specialty is the realm of trade, as his family's fortune and influence has been built upon the backs of countless merchants, both of his family and without. He is shrewd and calm, often the most level-headed of the Emperor's staff, possessing the ability to see matters of politics from a (relatively) detached point of view. A lifetime of political experience has sharpened his talents and charisma to near perfection - his honeyed tongue has gained almost as much loyalty from the Court as that of the Emperor.

Personality: Paranoid, opportunistic, and cunning only begin to describe him. Liu may appear to be trustworthy on the outside, but within he is conniving and too intelligent for his own good, ready to take his chances at a moment's notice if he believes he will stand to gain more than he will lose. His one loyalty lies with the ruling house of Hokkan, and even that he uses to his advantage - should the royal family take a wrong turn, Liu's loyalty will come to an abrupt end. Strength and cunning are all this man can find it in his heart to respect. He has a soft spot for young girls - and sometimes, this sentiment skirts the line of decency. However, if he can be said to hold even a shred of kindness in his heart, that little ray of affection falls upon his wife (Soune) and no other.
