Using NPED

This is the basic NPED application screen in [ Nped Limited ]

You exit the application by choosing the exit button and confirming that you want to exit in the eXit dialog box.  Conformation is done by pressing [ Y ] for Yes or by clicking in the Yes button (the green area around the Yes)  with the left mouse button.

Entering a new Bird

To Enter a new bird into NPED start by keying the band number into the BIRD: entry field.  When you have completed press the TAB key.  This will display the number you keyed in a picklist.  Highlight the number in the picklist and press enter.  You will then move to the [ QUERY F2 ] button.  Press Enter. Then the system will move to the next screen.
For demonstration purposes the F1 help is displayed in this screen shot.

When the [ Query F2 ] button is activated the following screen is displayed.  Key in the birds information.
Notice the change in color on all of the entry fields.  The fields that is active for enter is in yellow.  F1 help is available for each field while it is active.

At this point I have added the color, sex, and status.  If you look in the FAQs for entering pedigree data I recommend that the parents are always entered before their children.  This is so you can use the picklist feature to guarantee that the sire and dams band numbers exactly match the band numbers entered in the system.  The number must match in every detail.
The F1 help for sire is shown in this sample.

When you have entered all the data for the pigeon you must Activate the [ ADD F10 ] button using the Tab key or mouse.

When the [ ADD F10 ]  is pressed the screen becomes changes to the general bird update screen below.
Here I cleared the comments from above and tabbed to the [ UPDATE F10 ] key and pressed enter to update the record.
You must choose to update the data ( there is an implied update in the [ DETAILS F2 ] function ).  If you [ CLEAR F5 ] or [ EXIT ESC ] the screen will not be updated.
Pressing the [ DETAILS F2 ] button will show the report options for this screen.  See FAQ # 20-A Reports for individual Birds.
