14. Why do I need to copy WordPad into the NPED directory?
Different operating systems store the software in different locations.  By locating WordPad in the same directory as NPED it can function on more computers.  In addition the search time to locate the program is less if NPED can point directly to the folder with WordPad.exe.

15. When I don't use the provided shortcuts why does WordPad takes a long time to open? Reply

16.  I requested a report but WordPad does not respond.  Why?
Windows will only let one program access a the [ zreport.rtf ] file at a time.  All of the reports are written to the file zreport.rtf in the NPED directory.  If WordPad has any NPED file open the request to overwrite zreport.rtf will not work.  Close the Open WordPad session and request the report again.  On my machine when the WordPad session in minimized, the start menu reflects the file WordPad is working on [ zreport.rtf ].  If you see [ zreport.rtf ] on the start bar close that WordPad session.

17. The computer shut down or was rebooted while NPED was running.  What do I do if NPED will not start?
Run the program reorg.exe found in the folder with NPED.  It will fix most problems.  If that does not work you must restore the database files Ped_db.db and Ped_db.idx from your backup files.

18. How do I remove PED or NPED from my computer?
PED and NPED do not contain files other than thoes store in the new applicaton directory.  They do not update the registery. If you delete the application directory you have removed all traces of the applications.

When you are comfortable using the program you could remove the FAQs.

22. How do I run the FAQs that were downloaded when I installed NPED?

23. Do you have recommendations for backups? Reply

24. What does it mean when I get the message "Sharing violation reading drive X"
When you get this message it means there is another activity running against the database.  You are presented with the choices "Abort, Retry, Fail>".  Press A for Abort.  This can happen if you have a NPED session already running.  Check for [ NPED AllApps ] or [ Nped Limited ]  or one of the NPED batch jobs on the start bar.
