Sample Screens and a short pedigree
The HEART of the program
The main menu is a lotus like selection.  We will concentrate on the Bird_data when pedigrees are entered and maintained.  Use the arrow keys, tab keys, or mouse to highlight the Bird_data.

If this is a new bird key in the new band number.  If the bird is already in the system ( an exact match for what is keyed ) the existing bird will be displayed.  To look for existing birds enter the partial key AU89 and press tab.  All birds staring with that prefix are listed and the correct bird is selected using the arrow keys or mouse.

When the band number is entered exactly ( or selected using the popup menu ) press the QUERY F2.  Use the tab keys, arrow key or mouse.

Key in pertainment information about the bird.  Is color, sex, status,  Sire and Dam ( both sire and dam use selection popups )!  Comments are printed on pedigrees.  Negatives are the faults you never want to publicize. Wins are lines where you can detail each prize.  This for your information.  A summary of wins usually is what appears in the comments.  When done select UPDATE F10 at the bottom using the tab, mouse, or arrow keys.

When F2 (Details is selected) a popup menu appears allowing you to select the option to display a screen pedigree.  This is done by pressing the letter A, or using the mouse or arrow keys to select the option.  Selected options are highlighted.

The screen pedigree displays a 4 generation pedigree of the birds ancestors.  Both band numbers and the abbreviated color are displayed at this level.  I find this convenient when entering new birds to validate my selection of the birds sire and dam.

When F2 (Details is selected) a popup menu appears allowing you to select the option to print a short pedigree.  This is done by pressing the letter C,  or using the mouse or arrow keys to select the option.  Selected options are highlighted.

When the short pedigree ( OPTION C ) is selected the short pedigree for the selected bird is printed.

The loft name prints at the TOP.            Loft name and address information are changed under
The Address line is printed below it.          the menu option control settings.  Key what you like.

The banner line below that contains room for the owner to date and sign the pedigree when a bird is
transferred to a new loft.  The comment lines on each bird are the current comments entered under the individual birds maintenance screen.  As you can see comments are printed for the bird on the pedigree, it's parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.  In the 5th generation only the band numbers are listed.
