He apparently also served as a County Commissioner in Columbia County. The County Commissioners had to approve each Pension Application and "W.F. Peeler" was one of the signatures on his petition. On the application he stated that his name was "Wilbur" but on his death certificate his name was typed as "William." He signed his name on the pension application "Wilbur F. Peeler." He stated that he was partially disabled from old age, from performing manuel labor.
