ABOUT US

Started in August/September 2002, FYI Entertainment was started by Saiful (Iodine 39, Y2k), Khai (Y2k, Triple 6 Poser), Farris (XS Denied) and Pian (Side Circle) to promote new and unsigned bands in the Malaysian Independent Music Scene. Combining a DIY creativity and corporate professionalism, FYI Entertainment guarantee to bring you the best bang for your buck, be it our releases or gigs. Fareeq of Hail Friends Music joined the team in early 2003 and since then the company has been heavily promoting unknown independent talents as well as their own stable of artists.

GIGS

With their pilot projects 'Good Golly, It's A Gig!' and 'Dragon's Jamming Lounge', FYI Entertainment go out of their way to ensure the crowd get what they want : good music, good bands, good atmosphere and value for money every time.

FYI Entertainment are always keen to assist large promotional events by bringing in talented unsigned independent acts to perform at shows, such as the 'Dragon's Jamming Lounge', held in collaboration with Dragon Music Magazine and the Indiefestation held at Sunway Pyramid in collaboration with the OmniAsia Group. In 2004 FYI Entertainment again collaborated with Sunway, this time at the Sunway Lagoon, helping to bring in unsigned acts to perform during the 'Splashing Fun Colors' Festival held during the school holidays in March.

RELEASES

FYI Entertainment have one motto : Good music, value for money (wait, is that two mottos?). FYI have carried this motto through their gigs, and have done so with their first pair of releases: One Buck Short's single 'That Day' taken from their debut EP 'Where Is The Mouse?!' has maintained a position in the Hitz.fm Malaysian Top Ten for six months, whilst Side Circle's 'Feel EFX' has achieved decent sales figures for an independently released self-distributed CD.

Triple 6 Poser's debut demo EP has also been released by FYI Entertainment and was self produced and engineered by Khai of FYI. Y2k's debut album (currently untitled) is also in its pre-production stages, with Flatline's debut EP also in the works.

FYI Entertainment is also not just a profit driven company. Throne Away are currently being promoted by FYI Entertainment but all their material is available free to download at www.throneaway.cjb.net, as we are determined to promote bands that we feel deserve to be recognized.
