Winners of these Challenges will be rewarded with things that make life in Africa more bearable; those who fail must do without. They will then form the infamous Tribal Council, where you will openly debate the group dynamics of the previous days. The council ends with a secret ballot in which each of you votes one of your fellow tribemates out. Episode 2: Nacho Mamma - 03.07.02
  • Rotu Tribe - They called themselves "The love Tribe" as Gabriel said the night of the first TC. He said that they all sleep under the same shelter and do everything together except for ... Kathy! "I love being in this tribe. I love how they decide to interact with each other in positive ways," Gabe said. Paschal added that anyone from their tribe can win and he will be very happy. In day 4, we are introduced to some of Rotu's finest inventions including Gabe's crossbow and John's pig snare. But all these inventions are nothing compared to Kathy's discoveries.. more food! John gets a little bit annoying about babbling how he wanted to be the one providing food for the tribe. Kathy said that she will continue to provide food for the tribe but the tribe must fix the shelter and fire in return. "If having a shelter over your head is most important to you, then I will do my best to assuage your worries.", Gabe cooly stated and the tribe fixed their shelter with a fnal touch, the American Flag (Paschal's luxury item) was placed on top of it. "I'm in peace now", said Kathy finally.
  • Maraamu Tribe - We are introduced this episode to Maraamu through their "Morning Show" with wetherman Hunter, food guy Rob, and singer Sean plus dancing Vee and Gina. After their previous TC, Patricia suddenly changed. She now works hard and plays the "mama" role. Hunter and Gina liked the new Patricia as Gina said, "Miss Tricia has definitely changed since last Tribal Council. In fact, the next morning she was up, she was collecting firewood, she won't rest. I think she is being herself now. She is comfortable." But Sean and Vee don't like the idea of having a mother figure around.. "She is doing too much talking to me. At first it was endearing but now she won't stop working. Quite frankly I am getting sick of it.", Sean said. Vee and Sean, as we saw, already have an understanding (alliance maybe). Having the same culture and beliefs bond them together. And then we are introduced to more sniping in Maraamu. Gina complained that Sean is lazy and doing nothing and Sarah said that Sean is ripe for booting. Hunter said that Sarah is not contributing to the tribe. Whew! And then problems again. Sensing that it will rain soon, they decided to build shelter. But more conflicts arises as Sarah said, "I have been saying for the last two days that we need to put the palms on the roof to make it waterproof, and no one has been listening. Now all of a sudden Hunter has came up with this bright idea to do it and now it's going to get done." Gina said that Sarah is all say no action. Sarah's frustrations grew as her suggestions and ideas was ignored by the tribe.
  • Reward Challenge - this one is called "Do or Dive. The reward challenge is for fishing gears. Each tribe was to dive down and remove stones, which had been piled up in boats sunk many feet beneath the surface of the ocean. Once the stones were removed and the boat had surfaced, they were to tow it to the dock and bail the remaining water out. Once completed, they were to paddle the boat to shore and across the finish line. The game started and the tribe seemed to be in a neck and neck battle until Gabriel amazingly unloaded 19 stones in just one dive giving the Rotu a very huge lead. Rotu's lead was too much for the Maraamus to catch. Rotu won Reward!
  • Immunity Challenge - the IC is the usual Gross Food Eating Challenge. Each person on both tribes had to eat a Marquesan delicacy called Fafaru, which is raw fish, fish bones, crab legs and lobster legs marinated in sea water, then left out in the sun for three days. "Smells worse than a public toilet on a hot summer day!" host Jeff Probst proclaimed. One at a time, each person was to eat their portion of fafaru, no hands allowed. The first tribe to have a member fail to eat, would lose. All the castaways was able to eat the delicacy which lead to a tie-break round in which Maraamu's Rob and Rotu's Neleh Dennis faced off in downing a bowl of fafaru. Neleh proved to have the stronger stomach as she scarfed down the fish. Rob, on the other hand, coughed and threw up the fish. Rotu won Immunity again!
  • Pre-tribal Council - Hunter and Gina talked to Rob about voting out Sarah. Rob and Sean then talked about how Patricia can be annoying and not much help in the challenges. It appeared that the TC will be a close call betweeen Patricia and Sarah.
  • Tribal Council - Marramu walked to TC again. And can I say that even at TC these people are still sniping each other! In the end, Patricia was sent packing with a very close 4-3 votes against Sarah. leaving, jeff probst said "This is clearly atribe divided."
