The Secret |
A little girl fades in and out of her mind. She knows she's familiar, but can't place the time. She see the child's tears as they slide down her cheeks, and can sense her fear of a secret she keeps. Then one day, out of the blue, the child's memories flood into view. Face, places, and names flash through her thoughts, as the little girl sits quietly for the release she's sought. She can't cope with the memories this child has brought, and her life begins to crumble until she's left with only those thoughts. Both sit there trembling, watching, waiting, and wondering where to go. They're scared and alone... who can they trust neither can know. They want to die. They want to cry. Why, oh why, can't they just die? The child runs to her to be held and comforted, but who's to comfort her, now that the secret has been confronted? by Gabriel 4-17-00 |
The Child |
The child is alone and scared she weeps, but no one hears. She's carried her burden for so many years, yet she gives only a little at a time. She tells me of the pain she felt and the shame she carried. I try to comfort her but she only shys away. She says there is more to come, but she can't bare to say. She just sits alone and scared while I wait for her to tell me her fears. By Gabriel 5-17-00 |

In the Dark |
In the dark, the memories come. She can't believe what has been done. In the dark, the child crys. She can't seem to answer her whys. In the dark, she sees the face and prays to be in another place. In the dark, the hands touch She can't seem to forget that much. In the dark, she crys for the child who wasn't a child for long. In the dark, she trys to find the child she left behind. The Voices |
Everything is quiet, but my mind is screaming. I try to block it out, but the voices keep coming. They enter my dreams filling them with nightmares. They enter my thoughts, engulfing me with fear. These voices tell me the secrets my mind hides. I don't want to listen, but still the voices go on. It's hard to block out memories of the damage that has been done. By Gabriel 5-17-00 |
