to the tune of OH WHAT A CIRCUS by Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice
from the musical EVITA (c) 1976
JACE
Oh what’s the purpose? I’d like to know
Fans of Xena have gone to town
Over the death of an warrior: Joxer the Mighty
Fan fiction writers
Typing all day and typing all night
Trying to patch the damage caused -- by the folks with short sight
How sad an exit! You’d think a show
Successful for so many years
Would never have buried Joxer the Mighty
It's like his son said:
“He brought joy to everybody who knew him”
It’s really a sin that they -- would just throw him away
But who is this Joxer the Mighty?
And why have Xena and Gabby forgotten?
What kind of hero once lived among them?
How could they ever forget poor Joxer?
He had his moments, His chance to shine
The best show in town were the girls
Inside Meg’s Tavern singing, “Joxer, the Mighty”
But that's all gone now
As soon as the show jumped ahead twenty years
We all got to see, then POW! Hit with our greatest fear!
CROWD
Joxer the Mighty, why did you have to go away?
Why did they leave you in the bushes
When they chased Eve/Livia?
What were you thinking -- Virgil and Gabby and Xena?
Does the “Bitch of Rome” really mean more
To you? No, you can’t really mean that!
JACE
You let down your people, Rob Tapert
Three friends supposed to have stayed together
That's all they wanted, Not much to ask for
But in the end you could not deliver
Think you fools! You sure got it wrong
Enjoy the season, ‘cause you haven't got long
With Joxer dead, poor Xena’s through
She's not coming back to you
The fans have kept the show alive
Since zero four September 1995
But with Joxer gone, the humor’s worn thin
Drama’s not all that made this show great to begin
Without the comedy the plots seem gray
Without our Joxer Virgil’s just not the same
Without a warning subtext is all around
What they didn’t say then, they’re sure saying now
Think you fools! You sure got it wrong
Enjoy the subtext, ‘cause you haven't got long
With Joxer dead, poor Xena’s through
She's not coming back to you!
