Ocarina of Time Hints & Tips
Trading Sequences
There are two trading sequences in the game: one for Young Link and one for Adult Link. Completing
them will get you some very useful items.
Young Link: Get the weird egg from Malon near Hyrule Castle. Use the egg to wake up
Talon. After you meet Zelda, you will get her letter of reference. Show this to the guard in
Kakariko Village. Then head to Hyrule Castle Town - the Mask Shop will have opened. Take the
Keaton Mask to the Kakariko Village guard. Return to the Mask Shop. Take the Skull Mask to the
Lost Woods, and turn left once you enter the woods. Show the mask to the imp in this chamber.
Return to the Mask Shop. Take the Spooky Mask to the child in the Kakariko Graveyard. Return to
the Mask Shop once more. Take the Bunny Hood to the running man in Hyrule Field - he will stop
moving once the sun sets. Then return to the Mask Shop. You now have access to the Zora Mask,
the Goron Mask, the Gerudo Mask, and the Mask of Truth. The Mask of Truth lets you talk to the
Gossip Stones and find out many secrets from them. The other masks do nothing of real
importance, but you can have some different conversations with the people they represent.
Adult Link: Get the cucco egg from the woman in Kakariko Village. When it hatches, use
the Cucco to wake up Talon in a house in Kakariko Village. Return the cucco to the woman to get
Cojiro. Take Cojiro to the thin man in the Lost Woods: he is sitting where the imp who bought
the Skull Mask used to be. Take the mushroom to the hag in the second Kakariko potion shop reached by
going through the first potion shop. Take the medicine back to where the thin man was. Get the
Carpenter's Saw from the Kokiri child, and take this to the carpenter who stands outside the
tent at the entrance to Gerudo Valley. Take the broken sword to Biggoron, who is beside the entrance
to the volcano. Take the prescription he gives you to King Zora, then take the frog to the man
in the Lake Laboratory. Get the eyedrops back to Biggoron, and then wait for three days to pass
(or play the Sun's Song six times) to get the Biggoron's Sword.
