Gamma Gamma History

The History of the Gamma Gamma Chapter

On the night of January the fifth, six prospective AKA's were to begin on a course which would culminate in realization of the greatest moment of their time. On this night these young ladies, Doris Daly, Delilah Guild, Thelma Hornton, Dorothy Parks, Jeannette Harvey Hamme and Sadie Harvey were privileged to pledge in the presence of the noble greeks of Kappa Omega and Alpha Pi chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. How proud they were to form the nucleus of the first undergraduate chapter to be formed in 1942. No less pride was felt because they were charter members of a new group on a new college campus. After five distracted days these six young ladies were inducted into the kingdom of noble Greeks as members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
