Depascor (Lawful Neutral)

Depascor is the southern most Kingdom in the lands of Overhill, bordering on the enchanted forest. This is also the smallest of the four human kingdoms. Given the dangers of the Enchanted Forest, the ruler of Depascor, Queen Elisandra, has her hands full of troubles. Attacks by humanoids and wild tribesmen from the jungle have prompted her to patrol her southern borders heavily and harshly. In addition, her campaigns to cut back the jungle have not made her popular amongst the Druids, nor with the elves of Evaria. Depascor is known for its excellent fish and its rare fruits and medicinal herbs, many of which are drawn from the forest that the queen seeks to push back.

The lands of Queen Elisandra are mixed between temperate warm grasslands and subtropical jungle. Heat waves from the Desert sometimes bake the kingdom for a month or more and hurricanes are a yearly event along the coast. The grasslands are drier than average, getting 20 inches of rain per year, while the jungle receives rain every day.

While Humans dominate Depascor, they are nearly equaled by nearby aquatic tribes of crab men, sea elves, and mermen. Inland, Dwarven and gnomish communities can be found nestled in the hills while the plains are home to several tribes of wemic. The Enchanted Forest is home to all manners of creatures, some of which remain undiscovered by mankind. Elves will visit this Kingdom but generally will not settle here, making it a favorite of half elves who are tired of being looked down on by their Elven kin.

The Queen of Depascor sits at the head of a body known as The Great Council. While they may vote on matters, the Queen has final say. Depascian towns are heavily fortified and garrisoned by royal troops, usually infantry in or near the forest and cavalry on the plains. Decascian knights belong to one of two royal orders, the order of the branch or the order of the sky. Knights of the branch are trained as forest and jungle infantry and are generally rangers. Knights of the sky are trained as light, fast cavalry, dressing in light armor and billowing clothes that ward off the heat of the plains and maximize their movement potential. Normal warriors in this region are universally equipped with light armor, in deference to the heat, and trained that movement and speed outweigh the importance of brute power. Local militias are usually well trained by the town garrison but only called, in times of crisis, to support the troops rather than to act as the front line. Depascian units are segregated between tall and short races for ease of provisioning and movement considerations.
