Christ Memorial Church
43rd & Chestnut Sts, Spruce Hill, West Philadelphia

Type of Structure: Very impressive gothic church.

Year(s) of Construction: Building of church began in 1886.

Designer: Isaac Purcell (1853-1910)

Location: Located on the North-East corner of 43rd & Chestnut Sts.

Website: Christ Church & Academy

Interesting Features: This is an impressive church with wonderful gothic architecture and the four BEST gargoyles in the city.

Personal Observations:The church (and neighborhood around it) have seen better days. It was considered one the best features of the West Philly skyline. I have looked around and took photos. I haven't been inside and I plan to take more photos on a better day.

This church is finally starting to come back after many decades of neglect. One of the main problems is the lack of funds. If anyone out there is interested in donating some money please click HERE. Any little bit helps. Thanks.
