Robert M. Staley, 1st Lieutenant, Co. F

Robert M. Staley was a 17 year old farmer from Wilkes County when the war started.  He enlisted as a Corporal on 24 Sep 1861 in Wilkes County.  He mustered into Co. F, 37th North Carolina Infantry on 20 Nov 1861.

He was wounded on 1 Sep 1862 at Ox Hill, VA and returned to duty on 15 Mar 1863, place and date not stated.  He was wounded at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864.  He returned to duty on 15 Jan 1865.  He was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps on 23 Mar 1865.

Promotions: Sergeant on 15 Feb 1862, 1st Sergeant on 15 May 1862, and 1st Lieutenant on 28 Apr 1864.

Intra Regimental Company Transfers: From Co. F to Field and Staff on 28 Apr 1864.
