My Past Comments 2003
January
Jan 13, 2003 I think Gary should have won since Arcanine can learn the attack 'Extreme Speed.' Plus he and other contestants spent more time training for the race.
Jan 18, 2003 So it's not a new Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire which supposedly comes out for the GBA on March 17. A ground Pokemon shouldn't be affected by electric attacks.
Jan 25, 2003 Wow! I haven't seen a good quality Pokemon ep like that ("Dues and Don'ts") in a long time. There was even a twist in plot! This is getting interesting! I hope the writers keep up the good work! :)
Jan 26, 2003 Apparently, the English writers of Pokemon took the first and last names of two famous outlaws for the first names of 4 Team Rocket characters, slightly altering one name to Jessie. According to my history teacher:
Jesse James from Missouri is one of "America's most famous outlaws." His career began as a result of his experiences in the Civil War time period. He and his older brother, Frank James, once fought against the Union. Jesse James "achieved the perfect legend."
Robert Parker from Utah had an idol named Mike Cassidy who taught many things him like how to rustle horses and cattle. At some part in his life (1880's?, 1890's?)Robert started calling himself Ed Cassidy, taking the last name of his idol. He soon became know as Butch Cassidy because he worked in a butcher shop.
February
Feb 15, 2003 Three good eps in a row so far. Glad Jessie James and Meowth got to be useful, and hope they will continue to be useful. Hopefully, if Team Rocket's plans fail, it won't be blamed on JJandM. I hope those 3 succeed in their tasks even if the entire plan fails. Good take off on the video game!
Feb 23, 2003 Well, it's not bad; perhaps better eps are to come. Hopefully the boss will realize that JJandM are useful and are trying their best to do their job.
March
March 8, 2003 If Ash is going to be a Pokemon Master he better learn the type or types each Pokemon is, so when he encounters it he doesn't make stupid mistakes, like his Donphan against Dewgong in ep 236, or Pikachu against Piloswine in ep 237. He also should learn by heart what types are weak and strong against each other. Otherwise I don't think he'll ever truely be a Pokemon Master because he'll make mistakes like he's done recently, and might really put his Pokemon in danger. I won't be surprised if he makes a mistake like this that really costs him in the future. He has unique strategy like Pryce said, and if he just learned about the types he could be so much better.
Against Pryce with his Pokemon, I would have used Pikachu against Dewgong, and Totodile against Piloswine. I'm surprised that Misty and Brock didn't know Poliswine's second type either.
March 16, 2003 It was kind of wierd watching the sneek peek with out Misty around. It's like Ash took Misty's place and May took his, only May doesn't claim to know a lot or know everything or whatever like Ash did. I wonder what happens to Misty, Brock, and all of Ash's Pokemon besides Pikachu. I wonder if Gary is in season 6. It was cool that the boss was actually happy with JJ&M and someone actually gave credit to Team Rocket for irronically helping Pikachu. Wow.
For some reason I like Ash better in the Sneek Peek. Maybe his attitude slightly changed. I don't know. I seem to like him better than May at this point. I'd take Misty over May any day. I'm glad JJ&M are still there for now. I hope they make the boss proud, or some kind of happy ending comes to them.
March 20, 2003 Ruby and Sapphire are out, and so is Pokemon the Movie 4ever on video and DVD, which I have to say is a must see for Pokemon fans or anyone who has seen enough to understand it.
March 21, 2003 Well, I was curious,so just to let others know, if they don't already...Torchic doesn't evolve into Groudon and Mudkip doesn't evolve into Kyogre. They're completely different Pokemon. I'm still trying to decide which to start out with. There's 200 Pokemon to capture in Ruby and Sapphire, a few old, but mostly new.
March 27, 2003 I have Sapphire and its better than all the other versions I've played, better music, graphics, and more elements to the game! Even 20 different types of boarders/frames to put around the text (located under options). If you haven't played a Ruby or Sapphire you're missing out on the best 2 Pokemon games.
April
April 12, 2003 Well, I probably said this before, but I don't like it when Team Rocket forgets Meowth understands both human and Pokemon talk. Why does Ash forget he saw a Zapdos before? It's like the 2nd movie isn't connected to the tv show in any way.
May
May 10, 2003..and Ash sends out Phanpy against a Poliwrath that he knows is really tough. Well, dispite that they've had some pretty good episodes lately. (glad Misty likes the evolvement) I guess it makes sense that since Meowth acts like a human and is a Pokemon who sometimes battles, he was curious as to how a human would do in battle, but how could James expect Jessie to use a flamethrower, expecially when they were on a mission to capture a Poliwrath? lol I guess Pokemon's characters don't act in a logical manner and I should accept that. They just do anything for laughs, and hey, sometimes it works! I wish Meowth will become a Pokemon Master!
May 11, 2003 I forgot to mention that Pokemon Heroes comes out in Theaters this Friday May 16, in case you didn't know, or just a reminder if you did.
May 17, 2003 Well, I've seen Pokemon Heroes and the people at the theaters misspelled Pokemon! It reads Pokeman Heroes on my ticket, and to think that Pokemon has been on TV for almost 5 years and this is the 5th movie- Don't they know by now that the 'mon' stands for monsters? Oh well, something good came out of it because it gave me some laughter. I really love my Sapphire version. It's so awsome, but the only thing they didn't improve was the way to aquire berries. It's so tedious planting and watering the berry plants/trees, and then frustrating when you come back later and everything is bare like you never planted anything! Why couldn't they just have an automatic one berry a day like Gold,Silver, and Crystal, or atleast have the berry trees/plants stay alive until they are picked? I shy away from trying to make Pokeblocks because it. If this doesn't win the Nintendo Power award for most frustrating moment (most tedious anyway), it should be atleast be nominated. I have 6 badges now without a single Pokeblock (I thought I had made a Pokeblock at one point in the game, but I can't find it.). Dispite this, Ruby and Sapphire are definitely the best versions of Pokemon! ...by far! Another good episode today. It's a shame Meowth didn't get a chance at being a trainer but maybe it's better that way. I'd rather Jessie loose than Meowth, but I respect those who feel differently. I think Jessie with fire pokemon go well together due to previous episodes. Jessie James, Butch Cassidy, and Annie Oakly are 3 people from the west whose names are split up and distributed to 6 members of Team Rocket. It's cool how they're consistant. Read previous comments for some info on the real Jessie James and Butch Cassidy.
June-August
June 21, 2003Horaay! After totally blowing it in his first chance against Clair, Ash becomes smart in his second battle against her. Minus the part where he lets Snorlax continue instead of putting out Pikachu when Garados first appears, Ash did a pretty great job in choosing his Pokemon. I was even clapping for him at the end. And for the first time, (happily) I can say "Great job Ash, Well done! You might have a chance of becoming a Pokemon Master after all." :) Charizard returned at just the right time!
Aug.10,2003Well, It's been a while since I've commented on Pokemon. Since they went two weeks without a new episode, I had forgotten all about the egg and how it had stolen by thieves on mount silver and winded up where Ash is, as spoken of in "Lapras of Luxury". I can't believe the writers gave Ash a newly hatched Pokemon at this point in the story. If Larvitar helps Ash win the Silver Conference, that will be very hard to believe if it were the videogame world. A pokemon hatches at level 5. Ash would have to put it in danger and then switch Pokemon to raise it's level if he traveled the path in the videogame. However I bet Team Rocket will give it all the training it needs. And by the way I have a long Pokemon fanfiction if anyone's interested connected to my main page. It's my version of how Pokemon should turn out since "Tunnel Vision" to my ending of the show. Beware though, parts 1 and 3 are totally Meowth.
Aug.30,2003 Well that was a crazy and funny ep. I enjoyed it, but poor James, how sad. :(
September
Sept.19,2003There have been some good episodes of Pokemon lately. The good eps have returned, Yay! I'm disappointed that the writers don't seem to care about Pokemon levels by showing a scene where Ash's phanpy who doesn't have much experience tackles Machoke (Mochop's second stage) and appearently wins. What was Ash thinking sending in Phanpy? If he got to choose second he should have sent in Noctowl, and from what's been seen in the show Phanpy really hasn't gotten much experience to be choosen in the Silver Conference. With all the Pokemon Trainers who actually plan ahead, prepare, and train their pokemon that he'll be competing against, and all the experienced Pokemon he'll be battling, I just don't think it would be fair for him to win it all, or even get past the top 4. His plan is to win. The word 'win' isn't much planning if you ask me. Gary on the other hand is prepared and he's become a very respectable trainer. I hope Gary wins it all! "A Claim to Flame" was so awsome! (atleast for me, a Gary fan) I'll have to make a tribute to Gary (just did!). In the back of my mind, I suppose, I always wished something like that to happen. Gary and Ash are friends at last, horay! The end of the episode was all that I had hoped for.
Sept.20,2003That was so unrealistic with Heracross beating Magmar with only giving out 210 damage while recieving 430. Ash just got Heracross in the Johto. It doesn't make any sense that it's already reached level 54 to learn megahorn, since Ash didn't battle with Heracross for a long period of time. It's not fair if it's because of Professor Oak that Ash wins. That must have been some strong tree sap, or the writers just did anything to end the ep so that it was equal. They better have Gary win. If Ash worked as hard as Gary then I wouldn't mind Ash beating Gary. Charizard will be tough to beat since it went to train apart from Ash in the Charisific Valley, but Ash didn't even train Charizard. I think a Pokemon master should be someone like Gary who works hard to train all his Pokemon, rather than someone like Ash who comes up with brilliant strategy on the spot, and doesn't train much for battle or know a whole lot about Pokemon types. I don't think it would be fair for Ash to win for that reason, but it's up to the writers. It's interesting though, that Gary picked a Squirtle for his first Pokemon and Ash picked Squirtle for his first Pokemon too, only a Squirtle wasn't there, so he choose Bulbasaur and then Charmander which also had been taken.
Sept.27,2003Now my Gary Tribute really is a tribute to Gary! Still needs a picture though- perhaps by February I'll get one drawn.
October
Oct.4,2003 Aparently Ash didn't know that steelix is also a ground type and that the weakness and advantage cancel each other out making Snorlax's Ice Punch a normal powered move. If he would have known this he would have hopefully figured out that an ice punch would be a good move and not a weak one. Thinking about types wouldn't have hurt him at all as he ignorantly claimed, and it really wasn't fair that Dig connected on a flying type Pokemon. It should do zero damage, you writers, who either are not informed enough or don't care. I'm sick of it. And Charizard has type advantage over Blaziken, but will they point that out I wonder. I'm rooting for Charizard for Gary's sake.
Oct.18,2003 Wow, that ep made me cry a little and then with the spoon, fork, and towel- that was awsome though highly unlikely. Goodbye to all, in one episode! Its like the end of Pokemon; I could quit watching now. I liked the ep even though it was farfetched and I'll be sure to see the last ep of Master Quest.
November
Nov.13,2003After seeing the rerun of Love,Pokemon Style, I think it was cool how the writers actually paid attention to type. That was crazy battle, but it was obvious that Ash won because Squirtle became better apart from Ash. Squirtle's training in the Squirtle Squad helped Ash a lot, and if Misty and Brock hadn't been there to tell Ash to study his opponent, would Ash have still won? Anyhow, Squirtle was awsome! Maybe Misty and Brock will become better trainers apart from Ash too. Ash knows strategy, but he doesn't train his pokemon much. If only he would, then he'd be a much better trainer. He's more of a battler than a trainer. Pokemon battler and friend- that title suits him more now. Now I'm caught up on all the Pokemon episodes. I can say once again, that I've seen every episode of Pokemon that has been shown in the US thus far. I think I'll watch Pokemon to the end unless it goes dramatically down hill and becomes boring or frustrating.
Nov.22,2003 Wow, It's nice to see Ash catch pokemon the way a trainer is supposed to, without totally knocking it out. I like Max because he's smart when it comes to Pokemon. I'm disappointed, however that they replaced Misty with someone who doesn't know much about Pokemon. Last weeks episode was good too.
Nov.30,2003 That first episode yesterday was so awsome. I can't believe team rocket was self-sacrificing like that. How awsome! If only Ash would have kept his mouth shut at the end, the whole thing would be perfect. Too bad they got rid of Arbok and Weezing, never dreamed that day would come and now all James has is a new Cacnea, and Jessie just has Wobbuffet. The thought crossed my mind and I've decided not to change my team rocket poll because it would have to start over(in case anyone was wondering).
December
Dec.14,2003Last Saturday it was funny how Jessie caught the Serviper. This Saturday: If only Jessie and James had listened to Meowth when he suggested that they go "before the twirps get here." I liked how Meowth was the sensable one this time and got to be incharge of those pokemon, but gee with all the episodes that they've talked about water conducting electricity you would think they would have it ingrained in their heads by now. I missed Misty when there was no one there to take Brock by the ear and drag him away. She needs to be there! lol, and yay for Max! Max would make an awsome Pokemon trainer.
Dec.29,2003Now I'm begining to like May. There's nothing wrong with the word 'awsome'. It's so awsome. Jessie went crazy and sometimes I think teamrocket has gone crazy and I wonder why I like them, but I loved it when meowth said something like, "why don't you try poison tail..." Some of their dreams of how the boss is going to react is a little too farfeched for me, and other times they show me why they're some of my favorite characters. It was nice seeing Ash training Pikachu for a change. I wish he would think of training on his own rather than having someone prompt him.
