Welcome to my home page! I'd first like to thank you for visiting. A web page means nothing without people to stop by and say hello.

I am a 26-year-old consultant and educator living in Houston, Texas. I've lived here all my life, except for the four years I lived in Austin, where I went to school at The University of Texas.

This is my third version of a home page. I have been using computers since I was 9 or 10, Macintosh since I was 14. I didn't have a computer until I was 23, so in college, I was always in the computer labs. I couldn't save my bookmarks, because I was never at the same computer. I was complaining to a buddy of mine in college, who showed me how to get started with HTML, and in 1995, I put together a very crude collection of links on a page.

The purpose was so I could get to my favorite places quickly. Soon, others liked my links and asked for the address. What you see here today is an outgrowth of that. I hope you find the links helpful and fun. If there's something you like, please let me know.

Similarly, if you have a question for me, or if you just want to say howdy, please do! I would welcome meeting new people. You can reach me via e-mail at GatorManTX@aol.com.

Enjoy your visit! :-)

Where you're likely to find me on a Saturday night: At the BRB, the country bar in Houston. If I'm out of town, you'll find me at the closest equivalent in whatever town I am in.

Favorite bars:

  1. Full Moon Saloon, Orlando, Fla. (This is bear heaven!!!)
  2. The Round-Up, Dallas, Texas (Best damned cowboy bar you ever did see)

Turn-Ons:

    1. Fur -- the more, the better
    2. Stocky guys. Linebackers ROCK.
    3. Blue-collar attitude (down-to-earth guys)
    4. Sense of humor
    5. Masculinity
    6. Sincerity
    7. Blue or green eyes

What I am like: Well, I am from rural southeast Texas, but it wasn't too far from a major city. I grew up in a doublewide trailer and went to a pissant country school, but I also graduated valedictorian from that school. As a result, I think I am pretty down-to-earth and laid back without being downright redneck. I'm much more Wal-Mart and Whataburger than Dillard's and cocktails.

I don't own any Scandinavian furniture, I don't go to brunch on Sunday mornings, I've never been in an Abercrombie store and I don't like those tiny little picture frames (who the hell puts a wallet-size in a FRAME? Come on).

On the other hand, though, I have most of my teeth, I don't own a tractor or a rebel flag or have glass packs on a 1972 doolie Ford.

I do love country music and good Texas barbecue, but I also love to travel all over the country and read real books. I can find the auto parts store *and* the library; I can even read a map. I believe in eating with one fork, but if I have to, I can use all three correctly. You're much more likely to find me at a Motel 6 than a Four Seasons, and I'll always choose a Dr Pepper over a cabernet-anything. I can go from John Michael to George Michael in a split second.

In short, I think I am a well-rounded and fun person; I think you can be yourself around me, and I would really love it if I could do the same around you. I hatefeeling like I don't belong somewhere. I don't like pretentiousness at all, but I love funny, rowdy cowboy types who know how to have fun.

And best of all, I clean up well -- you can take me anywhere :-)

Characteristics of people I have dated:

    1. Independent and assertive
    2. Bull-headed (not a good thing) and stubborn
    3. Stocky
    4. Furry (generally)
    5. Stable financially and logistically
    6. Older than me
    7. Clever. Maybe not book smart, but full of common sense
    8. Handy, helpful. Has initiative.
    9. Masculine. Down to earth. Low-key but fun.
    10. Made me feel special or important, at least for a little while

Favorite Men:

    1. Chad Brock
    2. Richie McDonald, lead singer of Lonestar
    3. Aaron Tippin
    4. Darrell Hightower
    5. Ricky Sparks
    6. Mitch Buckley
    7. Richard Rees
    8. The guy who sat across from me on the flight back from New Orleans
    9. Alec Journeay
    10. Kix Brooks (Brooks & Dunn)

What I am talking about at the moment:

  • I really really want to move to Seattle -- just too damned expensive. Anyone wanna contribute to the "Gator Seattle Fund"?
  • It's gettin to be time for Spring Thaw and Texas Bear Round-Up -- will I see ya there?
  • I can't believe that Shrub is gonna be president. But at least we get him the fuck out of Austin.
  • One size does NOT fit all.

Other random factoids about me:

  • I was valedictorian of my high school and a National Merit Scholar
  • I can't swim
  • What I wanted to be when I was young: Radio disc jockey, news anchor, teacher
  • I can type 80 words a minute via the hunt-and-peck method
  • When I was a teacher, the yearbooks and newspapers I advised were named the top in the nation
  • I taught myself how to play piano and how to type
  • I hate chocolate
  • I really like gators, and just about anything Cajun -- swamps, etoufee, whatever
