A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GAWLER ART SOCIETY:

The Gawler Art Society was formed on the 27th. February 1967.
Some of the people attending the first meeting, held in the Gawler Adult Education Centre were: J. Read, M. Lines, B. Brady, G. &. B Brown,
D. Millowick, L. Wytkin, I. Naime, M. & M. Rogers & T. Kanti- Paul .

In the early years various exhibitions were staged in Gawler & surrounding areas. In latter years exhibitions were held on Nth Terrace Adelaide, Parabanks & Chateau Yaldara Lyndoch.

The Gawler Art Society has held monthly meetings at various venues in Gawler –
High St. Hall, Old Mill, Congregation Church Hall, Downstairs Gawler Council Chambers, Old Coach House Gallery, Gawler East Primary School, Old Post Office Building, Gawler Visitor Centre. Gawler Tennis Cub Rooms & St. George's Hall.

At the present time we hold our meetings at the Gawler Sport & Community Centre.
We have never had a permanent facility for exhibitions & meetings.
