Modifying the light shield was just a matter of removing the original incandescent bulb from the shield, drilling a hole to mount the LED in, and soldering the leads of the LED to the wires that were originally connected to the original bulb. It shouldn't really be that difficult for anyone who's done this type of project before.
As you can see, the hardware didn't end up looking like a "hack" job or defaced in the least.
