This assumes that you have followed the "ABC's" of salvation:
"A"cknowledge that you are a sinner
"B"elieve in your heart that Jesus is Lord and has saved you from your sins
"C"onfess with your lips that Jesus Christ is your Lord & Savior.
Don't take my word for it - read what the bible has to say about salvation:
By the way - are the sacraments necessary for salvation? The Catholic church's published book on the catechism, Catechism of the Catholic Church, Image, Doubleday (1994)
articles of faith indicate this:
"The Catholic Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation." Pg. 292 & 319, #1129
What are the sacraments?:
"There are seven sacraments in the Church: Baptism, Confirmation or Chrismation, Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and
Matrimony." Pg. 289, #1113
Aren't these seven sacraments are really a series of good works? As we have already seen previously,
the Bible states repeatedly that good works will never save anybody - they reflect the fact that we are saved, but
only the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross can save you. Just a couple more verses to back this up:
"NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but
according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy Ghost." Titus 3:5
"Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight…" Romans 3:20
Here is what God thinks of our good works:
"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…" Isaiah 64:6
