Most of the ranks within the King's Dragons are earnable through RvR. Each rank will have progressively more difficult requirements. Each member will need to provide proof of each battle and skirmish. Generally this is done in one of two ways. The first is if you are with an officer during the battle/skirmish you can have them testify on your behalf. The second, is if you provide screenshots as proof. I recommend always doing the latter simply because it's far more entertaining for all of us ;)
When taking screenshots there are several things needed.
- A screenshot of your character stat page immediately after the encounter.
- Screenshots of you in the battle.
- Screenshot of you in the battle with your character windows up (health bar, power bar, chat window, etc.)
- For those who are in charge of an RvR group, a screenshot with your group window up. There should be at least 4 screenshots for every battle/skirmish you want to take credit for.
To help avoid confusion, I want to define or explain some of the terms I use in the requirements. These are:
Battles:
- Battle
- a battle is defined as any conflict involving at least 25 or so members on each side. This can be a keep/gate assault or defense, or even just a giant melee in the middle of a field.
- Skirmish
- a skirmish is defined as any conflict between one or more opposing members of a realm. This could be anything from snipers to mini melees between groups. NOTE: A skirmish only counts as such if you are the one doing the snipering. Getting killed by a sniper does not qualify. sorry wizards ;)
- Victory
- a victory as is counted here, is defined as having accomplished a specific stated goal. Victories could be counted for such things as driving off an assault force from a keep you are defending, successfully taking over a keep from the enemy, capturing an enemy artifact, and possibly "special assignments".
- Leadership role
- a leadership role is defined as having been in charge of and organizing a particular task, and carrying it through by issuing orders, deciding strategies, and leading by example. These can be both on small and large scale excursions.
- Special assignments
- special assignments are tasks given by the officers of the guild to perform a specific given goal. These goals will often be critical, dangerous, or more likely, both. They can encompass a wide variety of things, both large and small.
Ranks:
- Veteran Soldier
- 3 battles OR 15 skirmishes; Realm Points 150
- Blade
- 8 battles AND 20 skirmishes (6 battle minimum); Victories 1; Realm Rank 1 Level 5
- Guardian
- 15 battles AND 10 skirmishes (10 battle minimum); Victories 2; Leadership in 4 battles OR 20 skirmishes; Realm Rank 2
- Knight
- 30 battles (25 battle minimum); Victories 3; Leadership in 12 battles; Realm Rank 2 Level 5
- Knight Lieutenant
- 35 battles (30 battle minimum); Victories 5; Leadership in 20 battles; Realm Rank 3
- Dragon Knight
- 40 Battles (35 battle minimum); Victories 10; Leadership in 30 battles; Realm Rank 3 lvl 5
NOTES:
- Each level's requirements are independent of the previous rank, except for realm points. In other words to becomes a Blade, you must have the 8 battles and 20 skirmishes as well as the 3 battles or 15 skirmishes you needed to reach Veteran Soldier.
- 5 skirmishes equate to 1 battle, so when it states a number of battles and has a minimum in parenthesis, you can actually make up the difference in skirmishes. For example, the Blade requires 8 battles and 20 skirmishes
- (6 battle minimum). The person could actually do 6 battles and 30 skirmishes to meet the quota, or 7 battles and 25 skirmishes. All battle minimums must be met however.
It is to be realized that I have made the highest rank only realistically available that truly want that rank. It's going to take real work to get it, and while I tell everyone it is a game and just to have fun, I know some people's ideas of fun and satisifaction are closely tied with having a tough goal or challenge and meeting it.
The other reasons I make it so difficult, is because those that attain those higher levels are going to be the ones we look to for guidance and leadership. If you have attained the experience needed to get that far, and we haven't obviously, you have something you can share with the rest of us. Attaining the highest rank doesn't mean you HAVE to lead, but most likely, anyone who does, will probably look for some advice from those who have the practical knowledge. These ranks are very real and will be reflected as such in battle. Those with the highest ranks will get the most opportunities to lead and try their ideas out on the battlefield, and I certainly encourage those that want it, to go for it.
What I do want to clarify is that off the battlefield, the administrative officers (Knight Protectors) are the top ranking officers. On the battlefield, it will be the RvR officers. While being one does not preclude a person from being the other, I want the distinction noted now, as ranks may play a big part in what we do on in RvR.
If anyone has any comments of suggestions, please let me know. I try to incorporate everyone's thoughts and feelings when making policies and such for the guild, but I'm not a mind reader. I can only go off of what I know. So if something is making you unhappy or you think of a better or more inovative idea, pass it along. I want to make this the best guild on Percival. Judging from how things are going, I think we are on the way :)
