Jose enjoyed a six-game hit streak last season from April 11th to 16th. He was among AL leaders with most walks through the first part of the term. In 1998 he went 3 for 3 with a big catch on Opening Day. Recalled from Syracuse on July 31st, 1998 and hit .285 (55-193) with 8 HRs and 28 RBI the rest of the season, including a career best 18 game hitting streak from August 5th to 25th.
