Striped leopard geckos have a body coloured stripe running down their back, with contrasting bands on either side, while Reverse Striped geckos have a contrasting band running down their back, with body coloured stripes on either side. In order for a gecko to be considered a true stripe, the striping must continue in the tail pattern as well. Without this, the gecko is considered to be a partial stripe, or an aberrant pattern.
