TransGA Guide
Examples

TransGA can identify the dynamics of multiple - input processes using transfer function models. It can identify the parameters and structure of transfer functions simultaneously. TransGA is a free software based on a genetic algorithm.

Main Features

TransGA uses the genetic algorithm of GOAL. Therefore, it shares the capabilities of GOAL related to genetic algorithm's parameters:

Data can be read from a text file, or introduced and edited using the spreadsheet - type interface of TransGA.

TransGA can handle SISO (Single Input Single Output) and MISO (Multiple Input Single Output) problems.

TransA does not require an initial guess of the structure of the transfer function: it can optimize the transfer function's parameters and structure simultaneously, and it is able to characterize complex dynamic behaviors, such as delays, inverse response, oscillations, etc.

TransGA displays the results in several ways: graphically, by comparing the experimental and calculated dynamic responses, and plotting the step response of the transfer function; and textually, by writing the transfer functions as polynomials of z.

TransGA also generates a report, which contains the result of the identification, as well as the evolution of several genetic algorithm's parameters during the optimization.

Users can get help about several subjects related to the use of the program, genetic algorithms, and system identification:
