The Avro Lancaster Bomber was the heavy weight champion of World War II. It was the only wartime bomber capable of carrying the 22,000 pound (9,988kg) Grand Slam bomb. On May 1943, it carried out the famous Dam Busters raid. It was maneuverable and can take alot of punishment. Its defence armament was effective, and combined with it's heavy bombload which had a great influence on the outcome of the war on the Western Front, it will go down as one of the greatest aircraft of history.
