A vast chasm separates meNext Poem
From the rest of the world.
Hands reach out and touch me,
I push my conscious deep within
So that I cannot feel them.
They desperately claw at me
Trying to drag me from my despair,
Can they not tell that all I desire
Is to sink into perfect oblivion
And leave their falsities behind me?
I see their blurred physicalities,
I hear their muffled chants,
But though I persist at hiding,
They do not tire of hunting me down.
This unending aid widens the chasm
Yet they remain unaware
And so I struggle, further and further
Into darkness.       © 14/9/2001
