AIRPACK RELAY

Equipment Needed:      4 Chairs, SCBA                                   

Fire Gear Needed:        Boots, helmet, pants with suspenders, and coat 

Number of People:       Four (4) 

Object: To don bunker gear and SCBA in a relay as a team against the clock.

1.                  Teams shall consist of four (4) members, positioned twenty-five feet apart, sitting upright in a chair with hands placed on knees and facing forward. 

2.                  The first team member at the sound of the whistle shall don his/her bunker gear.  This shall be done as follows: 

a)                  Boots and pants with suspenders over both shoulders and the D-RING/CLIP fastener on the waist of the bunker pants fastened. (THIS CANNOT BE PRECONNECTED).

b)                  Three (3) clips minimum fastened on the bunker coat. (NONE PRECONNECTED) IF VELCRO TYPE IS USED, VELCRO AND ZIPPER MUST BE CLOSED.

c)                  Helmet with chinstrap secured. 

3.                  After the first team member is bunkered, he/she will don a SCBA.  The SCBA shall be donned as follows: 

a)                  Both arms in shoulder straps and pulled tight.

b)                  Waist strap fastened.

c)                  No mask will be used. 

4.                  After donning SCBA, the first team member shall walk a distance of twenty-five (25) feet to the second chair and tag team member #2.  At this point, team member #2 shall don his/her bunker gear and utilize the same SCBA that the first team member relays to him/her.  Team members may assist each other donning the SCBA. Team member #2 must then follow same procedure and proceed to team member #3.  The third and fourth team members will follow the same procedure.  Time will be taken when the fourth member crosses the finish line. 

5.                  There will be a judge at each chair to check for rules violations.  Each violation of proper donning of gear and SCBA will result in a five (5) second penalty. 

6.                  Any attempt to rise from the chair prior to being tagged or any attempt to bunker out prior to being tagged constitutes a rules violation.
