Welcome to The Jolly Boys' Outing 2000.
The JBO 2000 lineup. From the left, Neil(Nelly), Graham(Lucky), Ian(Sad), Bob(Mad)
and Me(Andy).
So thats Nelly, Lucky, Sad, Mad and Me up on Windermere for 4 days in September to do nothing but ski, walk, drink and eat. Well that was the plan anyway.
We had intended to take the Glastron, but on the morning we were due to leave, Mad Bob arrived with his new boat, an 18 month old Tige Pre2000 19ft Tournament ski boat shown below.
Needless to say the Glastron was hastily re garaged.
The only concern, so far, was that all the UK's oil refineries were in the process of being blockaded by haulage drivers and farmers, protesting about the cost of fuel and this could, and did cause a petrol shortage.
We weren't the most popular people on the petrol station forecourt filling jerry cans with nearly £200 worth of fuel to take with us.
Little did we know, we'd need another £200 worth to complete the holiday. Luckily this was found at a station just outside Bowness, who's reserves lasted nearly to the end of the blockade.
Here's a great picture of Mad Bob practising 'the turn.' Notice the ski rope in the upper part of the picture.
Conditions were excellent so, this year, the walking took a back seat and we skied most of every day.
Sad coasting after some useful progress.
Right. Graham applying some pressure.
A fine picture from one of Graham's many fantasies. That's him of course but he'll wake up any minute.
