~ A GUIDE TO MARIO CHARACTERS ~
Section A-H
NAME: Axem Black
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Axem Black is the 'cool' one of the Axem Rangers. He is black, of course, wears shades, the whole deal. He's a boss fought by Mario and crew above the Barrel Volcano. He uses an axe like all the others.

NAME: Axem Green
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Green is...well, an Axem Ranger. Other than that, he doesn't have many remarkable features. Oh, oh, wait!!! ...He's green. Silly me. Mario fights him along with the other Axem Rangers, above Barrel Volcano.

NAME: Axem Pink
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
The pink Axem Ranger, like the Power Ranger she is surely parodying, is the prissy one. She complains a lot, and also has an annoying attack that turns Mario and the group into mushrooms, so it's best if she just goes and dies somwhere. She's fought with the others.

NAME: Axem Red
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Since the Axem Rangers seem to be parodying the Power Rangers, that makes Red the leader. He doesn't tolerate any whining from the other four, and he basically runs the show. Mario fights him with the others, at Barrel Volcano, after they steal his Star Piece.

NAME: Axem Yellow
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Axem Yellow....likes to eat. He talks about how hungry he is constantly. He is the chubbiest of all the Rangers. He gets the snot kicked out of him with everyone else, at Barrel Volcano. What, like you'd expect them to split up? They're a TEAM! GOOO AXEM RANGERS!!! ^_^
NAME: Baby Bowser
GAME(S):
Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
INFO:
First of all, this is not the same Baby Bowser from Yoshi's Story and the like. This one is not the same as Bowser. We don't know where he came from (perhaps he's Bowser's child?) but in the MP series, he shows up to cause general trouble. He'll sell you items, or take your coins, or other stuff. In appearance, he looks like a miniature Bowser...kinda like his 'Mini-Me'. ^^

NAME: Belome
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Belome is a boss monster that took over Kero Sewers. He is constantly hungry, and will eat just about anything---including Mario, and especially Mallow! He has the appearance of a ...doglike monster, almost. After getting defeated in Kero Sewers, he challenges the party again in Belome Temple, and by then he's learned to clone his food! After that, he's gone for good.

NAME: Big Boo
GAME(S):
Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3
INFO:
The Big Boo is a larger Boo, one that haunts the Ghost Houses in Dinosaur Land. In the Donut Secret House, he is a boss. In Yoshi's Island, he haunts a fortress or two. In the MP series, he's more helpful---for a fee, he'll steal coins or Stars from a rival.

NAME: Bigger Boo
GAME(S):
Yoshi's Island
INFO:
Since this ghost is more powerful and larger than even the Big Boo, there's only one. He's the boss of the Fortress in World 2, Bigger Boo's Fortress...appropriately named, of course. The more Yoshi hits him, the bigger he gets, until--POP! No more Bigger Boo. ;_;

NAME: Birdo
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario RPG, Mario Tennis
INFO:
Birdo, an egg-spitting dinosaur, is the mini-boss of nearly every stage in Subcon. The earlier ones spit only eggs, but later ones spit both eggs and fireballs, and sometimes just fireballs. They come in pink, red, and green, but mostly pink. In SMRPG, Birdo is a boss in Nimbus Castle, and it spits eggs there too. The only time Birdo is on your side is during the Mario Tennis tournaments, but hey, -everyone- is on your side then. ^^

NAME: Blade
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
The Blade is the Axem Rangers' airship. They tried to use it to escape from the Barrel Volcano after stealing Mario's Star Piece, but he beat them and it, and it crashed. It was also supposed to pick up Yaridovich from Seaside Town, but it wasn't there on time, resulting in his defeat.

NAME: Blooper
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario RPG, Mario Party, 2, 3, Paper Mario
INFO:
Bloopers are jellyfish-like enemies that inhabit the waters of the Mushroom Kingdom. They will chase after Mario if they see him. Some of them carry babies along with them. In PM, the many varieties that live in Toad Town Sewers are all bosses. In SMRPG, they swim around in the Sunken Ship.

NAME: Bob-omb
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, Mario Party
INFO:
Bob-ombs are wind-up bombs that walk around. They are Mario's enemies up until Super Mario 64, when the pink bob-ombs were developed. Pink Bob-ombs operate many cannons, are good, and are enemies with the black ones, who work for Bowser. In MP, they were having a war, but made up. In PM, there are many different colored bombs, like blue or green, and no certain color is friend or foe. Prominent Bob-ombs include Bombette and some others. Some can be carried after stepping on them.

NAME: Bombette
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Bombette is a fiesty pink Bob-omb that was imprisoned with several others in the Koopa Bros. Fortress. She joins as one of Mario's playable allies, and is very useful in blowing up cracked walls. She has a temper, though, and when angered she will blow up, literally--even on Mario!

NAME: Boo Buddies
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64
INFO:
Boo Buddies are the shy ghosts that haunt the Mini-Fortresses of the Mushroom World and the Ghost Houses of SMW, not to mention the Sunken Ship in SMRPG. There's also a town of them in PM--Boo's Mansion and Gusty Gulch. They chase Mario from behind, but when looked at, they will stop. In PM, they seem to be all on Mario's side, instead of Bowser for some strange reason. Prominent ones include Lady Bow and Bootler.

NAME: Boom-Boom
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 3
INFO:
Boom-Boom is a creature much like Birdo in the respect that it has many forms and shows up frequently. These mini-bosses are the guardians of all the Mini-Fortresses in the Mushroom World. They bear a slight resemblance to Morton Koopa. They all have spiked shells, but some can jump high, or even fly. When they are defeated, the Mini-Fortress will crumble.

NAME: Boomer
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
One of the bosses in Bowser's Keep, on the way to Exor. Mario fights him up on a chandelier. He is an honorable foe, samurai-like almost. After getting defeated, he drops off the chandelier to his doom.

NAME:
Boomerang Bros.
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 3
INFO
: The Boomerang Bros. are another variation of the Hammer Brothers. They are identical in appearance, but instead of hammers, these throw boomerangs. They are seen in pairs less than the Hammer Bros.

NAME: Booster
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Booster is a very odd fellow who runs Booster Tower near Marrymore. He used to have it so that anyone could go to Booster Tower and have fun, but after Princess Peach landed in his lap, he used up all his time caring for her. He bears a slight resemblance to Wario in a way, and wears one of those horned viking helms. He likes to collect dolls of people like Mario and Peach. In fact, you have to fight him as a boss depending on whether you find his Mario doll or not. He also tries to marry Princess Peach, a fact that neither she nor Mario is thrilled about. Booster Hill and Booster Pass are also named after him.

NAME: Bootler
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Bootler, a Boo, is Lady Bow's personal butler and messenger. He delivers the news that Bow is holding one of the Star Spirits for ransom. He also takes great pleasure in scaring the crap out of the Toad Town guard that watches over the entrance to Forever Forest. All in all, Bootler's very cool. ^^

NAME: Boshi
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Since Boshi was the fastest runner on Yo'ster Isle, he got to make the rules. He won races, but he only let people race one on one---and only against him. Until Mario came and won a race with Yoshi, this mean ol' dude got to do whatever he wanted. Afterward, everyone got to race how they wanted. Ah, happiness...^_^

NAME: Bow
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Bow is a Boo, and leader of all the Boos at Boo's Mansion and Gusty Gulch. She is devoted to Mario's cause, but it's obvious that her people come first. When the Boos are terrorized by Tubba-Blubba, who likes to eat them, she took action--when the Star Spirit escaped from Tubba, she captured it instead, holding it for ransom until she had Mario's help. She then joins as a playable ally, and she's really good, too. ^^

NAME: Bowser Koopa, King
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Mario Golf, Tennis, Party, 2, 3, Paper Mario, Yoshi's Story
INFO:
Bowser is the tyrannical turtle that rules over the entire Koopa Empire. He's been giving people trouble all his life. As an infant, he was cared for by Kamek the Magikoopa, who kidnapped the baby Mario Bros. to insure that Bowser would have a successful reign. Yoshi foiled this plot however, and baby Bowser took his revenge by stealing the Super Happy Tree and turning Yoshi's Island into a storybook. The baby Yoshies foiled this. As an adult, Bowser has done many evil deeds. He always tries to (and has) kidnap Princess Peach and take over the Mushroom Kingdom. He has also tried to harness the powers of Star Road, Peach's Castle and the Star Rod. Once, when Smithy cast Bowser out of his castle, he joined Mario and became a powerful ally. But, it didn't last. He'll never fail to show up and cause trouble in the Mushroom World.

NAME: Bowyer
GAME(S):

NAME: Bullet Bill
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario
INFO:

NAME: Bundt and Raspberry
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
This boss from SMPRG is fought in Marrymore, and believe it or not, it's an evil cake come to life. It was created by Chef Torte and his assistant for Princess Peach and Booster's wedding, which Mario crashed. It's a fairly annoying boss, but fortunately, it meets its end when Booster eats it whole. ^_^

NAME: Burt the Bashful
GAME(S):
Yoshi's Island
INFO:
This one's the mini-boss for World 1, and he's pretty tubby--though not nearly as fat as he gets after Kamek magically enhances him. He's not too difficult though, and once Yoshi literally knocks the pants off him, he deflates into nothingness.

NAME: Buzzy Beetle
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World
INFO:
These regular enemies are semi-common in the Mushroom Kingdom and Dinosaur Land, though they are more often encountered underground. They are shelled, ground dwelling creatures. Some of them can walk or even spin on ceilings until someone comes by, but they are all invulnerable to fireballs. Which sucks. ^^
NAME: Captain Syrup
GAME(S):
Wario Land 2
INFO:
Syrup is a pirate captain that steals Wario's treasures. She is not, in fact a duck, as I had once thought.. And frankly, I'm not sure whether to root for her or Wario, but Wario ends up winning anyway. ^^;

NAME: Chain Chomp
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario 64, Mario Party 1, 2, 3, Yoshi's Island
INFO:
These beasties, called 'Chomps' when they aren't chained, are enemies that are usually chained to some sort of post. They attack anyone who comes into range, and are even more dangerous when freed. Free ones roam on Yoshi's Island, and are so violent they will bite chunks out of the ground just to get at Yoshi! In SMRPG, they make a nifty weapon for Bowser.

NAME: Chancellor
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
The Chancellor is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. It's unknown whether he is Princess Peach's father or not, but the way he worries over her, he probably is. He's always worrying about Peach, and he counts on Mario for absolutely everything. He completely loses his head when Mack takes over the castle. Other than that, he seems to be a competent enough ruler, I suppose. But without Mario around, I shudder to think...

NAME: Chargin' Chuck
GAME(S):
Super Mario World
INFO:
These guys are big brawny enemies found all over Dinosaur Land. They are outfitted in football gear, and will either charge at Mario or Luigi, or throw any kind of sports equipment: baseballs, footballs, etc. Some will split into many Chucks. They're more durable than most enemies, and take three hits to take down.

NAME:

Prominent ones include Sushie from PM.

NAME: Chef Torte
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Chef Torte is a Koopa chef working in Marrymore. He has an assistant, and he's actually a funny little dude. If Mario goes and stands on his cake while he's making it, he will (understandably) scream at him. With his assistant's help, he creates Bundt & Raspberry, the evil cake that comes to life. When he sees Mario leaving without eating his cake, he attacks---until the cake comes to life, and he splits. ^^

NAME: Chet Rippo
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Chet Rippo...is...is....well, honestly, he's a thing. He resembles an elephant-platypus with a sheet over him. He's in Toad Town, and like his name reveals, he tries to rip you off. He'll up one of Mario's stats (HP, FP, or BP) but it takes away from another stat. It's best to avoid this...thing.

Once beaten, he drops the Quartz Charm and disappears as quickly as he came.

NAME: Czar Dragon
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
The guardian of the Star Piece inside of the Barrel Volcano. This dragon, like most dragon bosses, is fire oriented. After Mario beats up on him enough, he becomes Zombone.
NAME: Daisy, Princess
GAME(S):
Super Mario Land, Mario Tennis, Mario Party 3
INFO:
Daisy is the princess of Sarasaland. She could almost pass for a twin of Princess Peach. Daisy lived a pretty carefree life, until the space-conqueror Tatanga captured her with the intention of making her his bride. Enter Mario, who crossed Sarasaland's four countries, braving dangers (not to mention all the fake Daisy clones) to rescue her. Afterwards, little was heard from her, until she appeared from nowhere to play tennis and take part in the Mario Party games. She has been romantically linked to Luigi in the past, or so they say...

NAME: Dodo
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
Dodo is an extremely fat bird boss, Valentina's assistant. He obeys her unfailingly, but obviously hates her. She tells the Nimbus Land people that he is the long-lost Prince, Mallow. The saddest part of this, sadder than the fact that you have to fight him, is that they believe her. ^^;;;

When Mario fights him, he gains access to Smithy's Factory and the final battle.
NAME: Fearsome Five
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Though the name may sound like it, this one's not a boss. Far from it! The 'Fearsome Five' is a group of the cutest little Yoshi kids you ever did see. Of course, they come off as less cute after they get lost in the Jade Jungle on Lavalava Island, forcing Mario to save them all. Their 'nanny' is Sushie, the Cheep Cheep.

NAME: Fighting Flies

Gaz is a cute, adorable little mushroom kid living in Rose Town. His mother owns the inn, and he owns a bunch of neat dolls. He has Mario, Peach, Bowser...and a new one called Geno. INFO:
Goombas are very very common enemies, seen all around the world. They're common ground troops for Bowser, mushroomlike with a sour expression. Most can be squished underfoot, but the ones in Dinosaur Land are too hard for that. After initially defecting from Bowser's army when Smithy took over, some Goombas remain against him, like the Goomba family in Goomba Village. Of course, the vast majority remain on Bowser's side. There are a few other varieties of Goomba as well--some fly, some are very tiny.

NAME: Goomba Bros.
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
The Goomba Brothers, Red Goomba and Blue Goomba, block the road from Goomba Village to Toad Town. They work for the Goomba King, but Mario and Goombario trounce them, and later they write a letter asking Goombario to be their friend. They're just softies at heart, I guess...^^

NAME: Goomba King
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Goomba King is the king of all Goombas! And like most Goombas, he's also a pushover. He's a boss, guarding his fortress that blocks the road from Goomba Village to Toad Town. He doesn't seem particularly smart either, but he's smarter than the Goomba Bros., so he has that much going for him.

NAME: Goombaria
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
Goombaria is a little girl Goomba. She lives in Goomba Village and is Goombario's sister. She has a doll of Princess Peach.

Goompa is the Goomba grandpa from Goomba Village. He is a peaceful Goomba like the rest of his family. He is Goombario and Goombaria's grandfather. NAME: Goompapa
GAME(S):

NAME: Hammer Bros.
GAME(S):
Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Mario Party, 2, 3, Super Mario 64
INFO:
The Hammer Bros. are elite Koopas that wear helmets and toss hammers at Luigi and Mario. They are most often seen in pairs. It's hard to get past their tactics, but if you can manage to defeat them you're usually rewarded well enough. Some of them ride flying platforms, and some are giant. Other variations include the Boomerang and Fire Bros. In SMRPG, the Hammer Bros. are the boss of Mushroom Way. If Mario can get his hands on one of their patented hammers (which he does) it makes a good weapon. In SMB3, Mario and Luigi can use a rare Hammer Suit to imitate these brothers--which does wonders against enemies like Dry Bones, Thwomp, and Boo Buddies.

NAME: Hinopio
GAME(S):
Super Mario RPG
INFO:
This odd guy is the one who runs the only item shop and inn in the Barrel Volcano. Why he chose to open shop in such a secluded place is beyond me---but he seems content enough.

NAME: Hookbill Koopa
GAME(S):
Yoshi's Island
INFO:
Hookbill was an ordinary Koopa Troopa until Kamek's spell turned him into a gigantic boss. He's the boss of World 4 on Yoshi's Island. I guess he wasn't used to being giant, because after being hit with enough eggs, he'd lose his balance and topple over, leaving his weak stomach exposed. No more Hookbill!

NAME: Huff N. Puff
GAME(S):
Paper Mario
INFO:
This bad-tempered storm cloud held all of Flower Fields in his reign of terror, ordering an evil machine to get rid of the sun. After the sun was restored to Flower Fields, Mario and Lakilester ascended the Cloudy Climb to fight this boss---and he's not a very nice boss, either. ^^
