Monica, Lisa's physical therapist had the best session with her ever on Tuesday.
Monica was very excited with her progress and that means a lot! Lisa
is also working hard on her words. She is moving her tongue and lips
automatically now without being told to and through her vocalization
a word or two pops out! She is trying hard and her efforts are paying
off.

It was a quiet weekend for Lisa. She rested and took in the
beautiful view of the ocean from her room. We kept her company and tried
to cheer her up. The more she emerges the more aware she becomes. It is
a hard place to be not being able to communicate and move freely
around. I pray that God gives her the determination to concur this battle and
shows her the light to victory.

Lisa's doctor gave the go-ahead for the cranioplasty. It should take place
within a few weeks. We had our team meeting Thursday and Lisa got
all "doing greats" We are thrilled that her health is stable. Lisa
does struggle to stay awake and sleeps a good portion of the day.
We pray this is a sign of continued healing.

We got Lisa a TV that she can watch home movies and regular movies on.
She loves it and watches very intently. Lisa was resting when Leslie
called and told me that the Goo-Goo Dolls were singing live on the radio,
so I turned in and as the first song started Lisa opened her eyes and
looked around the room as to see where they were. She listened with a
small grin on her face and then they went to commercial. She closed her
eyes but as soon as the next song started she would open her eyes with
delight. It was so good to see her responding.

God smiled on us this weekend and Lisa smiled back!
Her Colorado roommate and good friend Terry came by to say Hi and when Lisa recognized him
her face lit up and she gave him the biggest smile, first one we have
seen in 6 1/2 months. It warmed our hearts.

Lisa enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend. Went out for a couple of walks
(in her special chair) and bathed in the sun for awhile..... good
for the soul. She had to have a procedure done on Friday to insert
a new feeding tube, (the other fell out?) It was taxing on her but
she was a trooper. Mission Lutheran Church (our church)is having a
blood drive May 8th in honor of Lisa! The donations do not go directly
to her but go out to our community.
Thank You MLC.
