Lisa continues to open her eyes for short
periods of time. She is working with her physical therapist each day
and they even have a speech therapist coming in now. She hasn't spoken
yet but we hope she will try soon. Congratulations to Brooke! Our
homecoming Princess!

Lisa started to swell a bit and they are
talking about putting a shunt in her head to help drain excess fluid.
We need prayer that the fluid will drain on its own. Lisa looks good.
The swelling in her face and body has gone down tremendously.

Lisa was awake a little more today. She was
able to track her mom across the room. They can't find any infection
and the fever is better. They are going to continue draining fluid
from her with a needle and hold off on the shunt for now.

Lisa is continuing to improve her ability to
breathe on her own. She will hopefully be completely off the
respirator soon. Her swelling is doing much better. They are still
draining the fluid with a needle and Lisa needs to control it on her
own or a shunt will have to be put in. All the conditions are perfect
for Lisa to wake up. So wake up Lisa and make us all smile!

Lisa is having a great day. She is able to
follow her nurses with her eyes as they walk around the room and she
is attempting to follow simple commands. We are so excited!!

Lisa has been fitted with a helmet that she
has to wear to protect her brain from the areas where the skull was
removed. They are sitting Lisa up in a chair for a little while each
day. She is still having trouble draining excess cerebral spinal fluid
but they are holding off on the shunt for now. She continues to track things
with her eyes and looks around to find you if you start talking to
her.

There seems to be some confusion that Lisa is fully awake. When we use the
term awake so far we mean that Lisa has her eyes open but still is not
very responsive. Lisa is slowly emerging from the coma. She is
spending more time awake and tracks anyone that comes in her room She
has been off the ventilator for almost two days and is doing very
well. They are leaving the tracheotomy in in case of an emergency. The
swelling in her brain has improved a lot. Sitting her up has really
helped keep the fluid moving. Her brain fluid hasn't been drained
since early Sunday morning. Dr. Gross has decided that she does not
need a shunt. Yeah! Lisa is very close to be moving to rehab. The
level of rehab is depending upon her alertness and responses. We pray
she will be able to stay close by so the "family part" of
her rehabilitation can remain intact and strong. Please continue to
pray for her. Thank
you!!

Lisa has developed an infection so they are giving her some antibiotics. She
was more alert today and was even able to stick her tongue out several
times when she was asked to. They are again talking about putting a
shunt it because she seems to be more alert after her excess fluid has
been drained.

They had Lisa sitting up in a chair today. She has to wear her helmet when
she is out of her bed. Leslie put a "hot chick" sticker on
it. Ha ha! She had her eyes open for most of the day but she didn't
want to do her tongue trick.

Lisa seems to be waking up more! She had her eyes open most of the day and
was tracking people in the room. She did her thumbs up trick for her
Aunt Chris! Way to go, Lisa!!
