We just had a conference with Lisa's teacher and she is doing pretty well. They are working on giving Lisa ways of helping with her short term memory. She carries a daily journal around and writes down everything. Appointments for the day, where she goes and what she does. She must fill it in at least 4 times during the day. It helps to give her ownership of her day and reminds her of the things she did. She is having a hard time getting her metabolism to kick in after being inactive for so long. She has had many tests and has seen many doctors these past few months. Her doctor has put her on a very restrictive diet and medicine that should help. She has to exercise a hour everyday and try to take a walk too. Unfortunately her ankle bothers her a lot so we are planning on getting her a stationary bike to give her ankle some rest time but she can still get the exercise in. Lisa is looking forward to the holidays and is already making plans for shopping trips and visiting friends. She really loves to read her e-mails and gets a kick from hearing from so many of you. Please keep her in your prayers, she has a ways to go yet.

Last thanksgiving Lisa got her first pass out of rehab to spend a few hours with the family. This thanksgiving she is setting tables and peeling potatoes! What a difference a year makes! Lisa is still amazing us with her quick wit and ever improving memory. She is still enjoying the interaction she gets in school and has almost completed her first semester. The independence she gets from attending school has really boosted her confidence and the ability she has to do things on her own. She is waiting to hear from the therapeutic riding center to see if horseback riding is in her future. Lisa LOVES horses and can't wait to be around them again. We shared Lisa's story (the short version) at the thanksgiving service at church. It was amazing to see how it touched everyone especially when they all saw Lisa and gave her a standing ovation! She has come so.....far. This family has much to be thankful for,it has been quite a year. Thank you too, for all the support, encouragement and prayers. God has been faithful to answer those prayers and it has been such a privileged to be part of this journey.
