Today's walk ( after a couple of false starts due to footpath closures ) finally took us to Glenridding. We left the car park and made our way around to Birkhouse Moor, leaving here we headed for the hole in the wall and a beeline for Striding Edge, we had planned this outing for February when we had some snow down but due to the foot and mouth we obviously didnt manage to get there, lets hope we get a good winter this year. The ridge was damp and a bit slippery, fortunately the winds were not too strong and we crossed without any mishap. A quick ascent to the summit of Helvellyn brought us into the stronger winds, the shelter was already full with a large party who had crossed just before us, apparently the famous Alan Hinkes was taking photographs for them. After a spot of lunch we headed around to Whiteside and finished the day off at the summit of Raise, finally heading back down into Glenridding.

Off he trots, he doesn't like to hang about.
Two pretty damp walkers at the summit of Raise.
