Let's start with where I stayed for the first part of my stay in Paris. This is also to show those of you who do not know, what a hostel looks like. The two pics below are of the D'artagnan hostel (closest metro station: Porte de Bagonlet).

my bag and shoes.. I had the bottom bunk..and no, the thing to the right is not a urinal as some people who viewed the picture asked. It's a sink.

Those are the typical bags that bagpackers use. Oh and please bring only items that are necessary. If you bring more than that, you'll have to walk around with a heavy bag on your back when transferring to different countries. Trust me, that's no fun.

As you can see, hostels aren't exactly the Holiday Inn, but all the ones I stayed in were very comfortable.
