I usually prepare turkey (of course), ham, baked beans, yams with marshmallows, sweet and sour meatballs, barbeque meatballs, some kind of vegetable (not always corn), brownies, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, and whatever else I feel like making.
There are usually
12 to 15 people hanging out here, but it's fun!
I think I will take this opportunity to say a word or two about the origins of Thanksgiving. This holiday didn't become an official holiday until around the presidency of Lincoln, I think it was, and even then it took a while to catch on. Now people would not even think of not celebrating it.
It is used to spend time together as a family unit, sometimes realtives come from long distances just to eat together on this day. Not as big as Christmas, say, but definately big.
On a sadder note, some people become depressed around this time of year, and it lasts all the way to Christmas. If you happen to know someone like that, please take the time to talk to them...it can really make a difference!
