Giving gifts to a man

Most women find it hard to find the right gift for a man. Here are some tips to keep you thinking on the right track - starting with gifts meant to please to gifts meant for a higher purpose.

Know His Interests and Lifestyle

If you do not know him that well, try to find out about his interests and lifestyle from his friends and loved ones. Try asking the following questions:

Does he have a favorite hobby? Then an an accessory or an event related to his hobby is a good bet. For example, if he's into computers, you can give him that software or hardware peripheral that he has been wanting to acquire. Or if he likes fishing, you can give him a floating camera, or you can arrange an expidition for him. If he likes sports, sports tickets will surely be appreciated.

Does he have a collection? Then something to add to that collection may fair well.

Does he like to travel? Is he an outdoor person? Then you may consider a finely crafted travelware to remind him of you wherever he goes.

Does he have a pet? A pet accessory will please as well.

Men Like Flowers Too!

Men like to receive flowers too. This was revealed in a survey conducted by the Society of American Florists. Similar researches revealed the same results. But don't just send any flower. Follow these tips:

Tips in Giving Flowers to a Man
Excerpts from Flowers and Fancies
  • Men prefer vivid colors such as bright yellow, orange, red and purple.
  • Most men prefer a linear style of design rather than a "fluffy" one. Flower arrangements that are contemporary, linear or natural styles are best. Other favorites include green or flowering plants.
  • Avoid sending traditionally "feminine" or pastel designs. If you are unsure what his reaction to the flowers will be, test the waters with a potted plant or dish garden.
  • When is a good occasion to send flowers to a man for the first time? What about every time after that?
  • Consider his favorite occasions for sending them. If he sends flowers for birthdays, then his birthday might be a good time to surprise him with flowers. Or you could send them to celebrate a success at work. A party or barbecue would be a great time to bring a casual table centerpiece or loos flowers as a host gift. And just as women love receiving flowers for no reason at all, a surprise floral gift will surely catch his attention too.

Gifts to Warm the Heart

Is he romantic than practical? Does he prefer things with a "personal touch"? Below are some gifts suggestions from Party Plans applicable to any man - may he be a lover, a friend, child, parent or other loved one.

Gifts for a Higher Purpose

Is he drinking or smoking too much? Or is he overweight but does not watch his diet? Or is he hooked into gambling and drugs? Or has he been blowing his top at everybody at the slightest provocation? Or is he into too much womanizing and hurting women along the way?

Men usually do not open up verbally to others. But there are many telltale manifestations of inner conflict. When you see these signs, act immediately! Do not wait for a special occasion to act, or it may be too late
