What The Night Is For Opens

John Caird directs Gillian Anderson and Roger Allam in Michael Weller's play, What The Night Is For, which opens at the Comedy Theatre tonight, 27th November.
The play examines the relationship, over the course of a night in a hotel room, between two ex lovers. Should they try to recapture their past relationship? Can they? What do people want out of a relationship anyway?
This production teams two highly watchable actors: Gillian Anderson has international fame as the star of the cult television series The X Files , while Roger Allam is a distinguished stage star who spent a decade with the RSC and most recently had a hit at the Donmar in Michael Grandage's production of Privates on Parade.
There'll be plenty of people on parade for tonight's press night of What The Night Is For, and fans of Miss Anderson have already made the Comedy's stage door their second home, so the play's off to a good start.

Favorite Cause: Feminist Majority Foundation's Never Go Back campaign (nevergoback.org) to retain abortion rights. The actress, 34, emceed Los Angeles's Rock for Choice concert in March 2001 and narrated a video about extremist attacks on abortion clinics.
WHY: "Imagine yourself faced with an unwanted pregnancy and making one of the most profound choices of your life - do you want the government making the decision for you? Being pro-choice does not mean being pro-abortion. We must pressure our senators to stop an anti-choice nomination to the Supreme Court - we can't go back to back-alley abortions."
