LX10 Modifications

In this page you can see the modification I made in the lx 10 Meade telescope in order to make it more suitable for astrophotography.

I have to warning anyone who wants to try these modifications that although the interventions was only in the mechanical parts maybe you can have problems in the guarantee terms of your telescope if it is in the guarantee period that Meade gives on its telescopes.

1. Adding a wedge azimuth adjuster .
This is my version of azimuth adjuster it is composed of two aluminum parts. The external is fitted on the tripod head and the internal on the wedge body the two knob screws permits smooth movement adjustment  about 10 deg east-west.

2. Adding a wedge latitude adjuster

On the photo below you can see  some details of wedge latitude adjuster. It is consisting by a long screw which bottle into an aluminum bar and ending in a   ball-bearing fitted on a aluminum angle on the down site of wedge tilt plate. On the other end of screw an control knob is attached and makes easier to adjust the wedge latitude.

3.Adding a spread bar

The spread bar helps to keep the tripod stable and it is very recommended. It is consisted by an flat aluminum foil 5mm thickness  cute in the triangle form. the edges of triangle have been filed in a circular form to fit on the tripod legs

4. Adding adjustable legs on standard tripod.

The standard tripod  has fixed height legs . Modifications in tripod legs to be adjustable is necessaries in the cases of not leveled observing places. the modifications consist of a cooper pipe a aluminum pad and a lock screw. The edge of standard tripod are cute in order to fit the copper pipe inside.
