Object Information: M57 (NGC 6720) known as the Ring Nebula, is the finest planetary nebula in the skies. It is located in the constellation Lyra between beta and gamma Lyrae (slightly closer to beta), and its distant estimated about 4000 light years away. Its apparent size is larger than that of Jupiter and the ring itself should be clearly visible in medium scopes as a ghostly elliptical disk while the central, faint blue star fourteen magnitude require a long aperture telescope to be revealed. I love this object because is the first deep sky I ever observed from telescope and always I remember how match I was amazing and happy by this well shaped ring object dropped in the middle of the space. |
