Photograph Information: Norh America Nebula ,NGC 7000 is a famous red emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus . Although it is quite large, it is a difficult object to observe because of its low surface brightness. In a clear and dark night one may be lucky to see it with binoculars is called "North American Nebula" because of its shape. Close to NGC 7000 and just right to it lies the Pelican Nebula, I5070. This nebula and its neighbor,I5067, are extremely faint for telescopic observations. The two emission nebula are located about 1500 light years away and are separated by a dark absorption cloud. It is still unknown which star or stars ionize the red-glowing hydrogen gas. |
