Saturday morning we got up really early. The storm was past but everything was still wet and fresh. We walked down to the latrine and took care of our morning routines. There is a long sink on the outside back wall of the latrine, so we used the cold water to brush our teeth and wash our faces. It was just 6:30 or so when we finished washing up.

We finished up our morning routine, then walked down the hill to the big Camp Sycamore Barn. We all wore our yellow bandanas to show everyone we were together.

We worked on earning our Junior Aide Patch by helping a brownie troop learn new skills this morning. We broke into groups and went to different activities. There was a leader at each station, teaching a necessary skill for the brownies. We were supposed to watch and help the brownies, but I think most of us learned something, too.

We learned a little of the
history of our American Flag, as well as how to care for it, display it and retire it. Another station was a fire building lesson and another was knot tying. The last station for the morning's activities was the sing-a-long. We were to teach the Brownie Scouts a few fun songs.

After we were finished, we all met back at the Barn and played on the slide for a few minutes. All the other scouts from the other camps were making their way toward the barn for the flag ceremony.

After lunch we had plenty more activities planned. We again broke into several groups and went our separate ways. Those that stayed in the barn learned to make God's Eyes, a pretty yarn craft made with colorful yarn and two popsicle sticks. Then we moved to the other side of the barn and made a little flower pot pin cushion. It is for a Mother's Day gift.

After we were done in the barn, we moved on across the field to the Tie Dye Station. That was the messiest thing I have ever seen. We had to wear plastic bags to try to keep our clothes from getting dye on them. We had to soak our shirts, then we got to squirt the dye on them from squeeze bottles.

Troop 2616 modeling our finished Tie Dye T-shirts at our last meeting (May 18th).
We had lots of pretty colors to choose from. Our shirts had been pre-tied by the troop leader and assistants so all we had to do was decide which colors to use and where to put them.
