George W. Bush: I severely hate this guy. I personally believe that to be republican, you have to be extremely naive. And this guy is beyond moderate- he and his co-workers are just about as close to nazis as possible. Republicanism: "Less taxes, more freedom" is what sounds good. But what do these taxes go to? To schools, to the homeless, to the less fortunate. A single mother with 3 jobs did not exactly choose for her husband to abandon her, and without the taxes, welfare is down, and she's in deep shit. Do you know what freedom is? Less unions, less workers' rights! So if your boss didn't like your shirt, he/she could fire you! That's a good thing?! With republicans running the country, no wonder our education system is a joke. Republican logic is selfish, and basically says, "I'm keeping all my money, and to hell with everyone else- especially the less fortunate." And Bush is exceptionally bad, because he's DUMB! Have you heard the guy?! He can't put together a sentence! Here's some hypocritical and/or stupid things he's done: *Claims to be protecter of environment. Liar. Under him, Texas set a new record for high pollution rates. *Cut off funding to foreign countries for birth control. OK, I understand the pro-life arguments, and all, but come on. Birth control pills don't take a life, they prevent one in the first place. And if money is so important, which is more expensive? A few pills, or a kid? Hint: $5 vs $500. Besides, if we eliminate birth control, there will be MORE hungry, starving children, who are going to die from malnutrition anyway. *To quote an article from The New York Times, "It has been a month of Bush's foreign policy, and already, I'm sick of it. It involves the expensive building of a star wars weapon to protect us from an enemy that doesn't exist." Wonderful. Just brilliant. Not to mention his increase in the millitary. Since we're at a time of peace, I guess we need a lot of guns. Yeah. *Gore was going to use the surplus to pay down national debt, therefore making our economy much stronger. Bush wants to "give it back to the people." Well, that's all very nice and dandy of him, but the "people" are the RICHEST 1% OF THE POPULATION! |
Other popular issues are the death penalty and abortion. I won't get too involved in that, as they are not my major concerns, but I'll say a little. Death penalty: I am against it. If the conviction turns out to be false, as it has for about 30 people, there's nothing you can do. They're dead. Second, the convicted has innocent relatives, and it's wrong to make them suffer too. Unless you have lost someone, you can't immagine how horrible it is. Having lost a classmate, AND a great friend, both in the same month, I have much more of a respect for life than I used to. Third, what is jail? Punishment. Punishment is to teach a lesson. How do we teach a corpse, I'd like to know. Plus, it sets an example of a corrupt, hypocritical government, by using the logo, "it's not OK for you to kill, but it's OK for us to." Besides, I think that if you are able to commit a crime as severe as would call for the death penalty, you have serious problems, and you need psychiatric help- not the death penalty. Abortion: I am pro-choice. Don't get me wrong, I am not pro-abortion. I respect a woman's choice either way. I am mostly concerned about those who CAN'T have a baby. Obviously I don't mean technically. But some women are in situations where it would destroy their lives, and their baby's would be miserable and might die anyway. So what's worse? Instant death, or long, painful suffering? There are things worse than death. Keep that in mind. I know there are a lot more pro-life men. Gee, I wonder why. If you are reading this, and you are a pro-life male, please take a moment to put youself in someone else's shoes. You are a struggling college student, desperately seeking your degree. Suddenly, you are impregnated. Do you drop out of college after all that work and when your degree is in sight? Take a job at McDonalds, where you will now most likely spend your life? Barely able to pay for food for your hungry baby? Or do you have the abortion, and go on with your life? Maybe have kids later, when you're on a good $60,000 salary. If you can't have empathy for someone in that situation, I'm sorry, but you're just evil. The best definition of evil is having no empathy for someone, no matter what the situation is. Like the Nazis. |
