Givens kennel is based upon the Igdaliah line (Bonnie Helt), specifically BISS Am/Can CH Igdaliah's M&M Candy Cain CD, otherwise known as CAIN. Cain's pedigree combines the old Coachman, Korcula and Indalane lines. Cain is a son of the great show dog and great producer CH Count Miguel of Tuckaway, "Mickey".
In 1988 we purchased our first Dalmatian and have been loving and breeding them ever since. We started showing Dals in 1991, and finished our first home-bred champion, Ch Givens Special Delivery, "Macho", in 1993. Macho is a Cain son.
Cain was breeder/owner/handled by Bonnie Helt to win the 1987 Dalmatian Club of America National Specialty under long-time breeder judge Charlie Garvin. He was also ranked in the Top Spots consistently and was on the DCA All-Time Top Producing Sire's list until 2000 with 21 Champions / 31 titled dogs in limited breeding.
Cain was a great showman and would bait for lint, if necessary. He had great heart and attitude as well as exceptional true movement. He produced nice toplines, dark eyes, reach and drive as well as excellent hearing stats consistently. Many thanks to Bonnie Helt for allowing us to co-own such a wonderful dog in his retirement years! And thank you CAIN for owning us, and brining us such good progeny.
