Tie Game for the Glaciers
Glaciers
4 - Bergens 4
The Glaciers played their first game of the season
on Friday October 11 against Bergens, last year’s Regina Men’s
Non-Contact Broomball champions. The Glaciers, who finished last
season with the poorest record after regular season play, offered a
surprising season opener by tying Bergens. They even took an early lead
of 2-0 in the first half thanks to Gilbert Hautcoeur and Raj Gill,
having respectively scored their first goals of the season. However,
Bergens stepped it up in the final leg of the match to tie it up at 3-3
after regular time. Both teams were able to score an extra goal in the
5 minute overtime but neither took the win in the end. Jean Bilodeau
and Jeff Trytten were the only 2 to find the back of the net in extra
time. This year, the Fransaskois team recruited 4 new players in order
to fill gaps due to many departures. They are Robert Jerrett (rookie),
Raj Gill, Richard Peers and Russ Schroeder. The latter had a fantastic
game picking up 3 assists in this, his first game in a Glaciers
jersey.
