![]() (18/10/09) Andrew reports: Glan's fine form continued at Cae Cob on sunday afternoon as they entertained a well organised Holyhead side. The strength in depth of the squad proved invaluable as three regulars were missing due to illness (hope you're better boys!). Glan's positional play and passing continues to improve although at times we were over elaborate , seemingly wanting to walk the ball into the net! Half time saw Glan leading 2 - 0 through goals by Kyle and Kieran although this could have been doubled had we taken our chances. However, two quick fire goals after the break by Harry and Mike put the result beyond doubt. Holyhead did pull a goal back before Kieran completed the scoring with ten minutes left on the clock. Still plenty of room for improvement especially with our decision making in front of goal but this will come as we play more games. A reminder to all that training has now been switched to monday evenings 7.00 pm at Plas Arthur. Click here for photos. DRAGONS LOSE OUT AT CEMAES (18/10/09) Cemaes 4 Under 11 Dragons 1 Robin reports: The Dragons kicked off and although a depleted outfit gave a good account of themselves. Cemaes had most of the attacking moves but Glan resisted well and were unlucky to go in at the break 2 down as the goals came in the last two minutes. Glan played against a stiff breeze in the second period and again defended well having slightly more attacking advances in the second period.F rom a corner Arwel swung over and after pressure from Tom and Mike a goal came with a Cemaes defender heading home the cross. 2-1 game on. But alas Cemaes broke away and scored two late goals for the victory. The match was played in good spirit and both teams gave 100%. Liam from Glan gained man of the match. ![]() (17/10/09) Tesco Cup Glantraeth 0 Amlwch 10 Glan kicked off an a sunny morning but after two minutes were behind, sloppy defending. After 10 minutes again sloppy defending led to Amlwch's second goal. Positional changes were made due to lack of commitment. There was an ![]() Next match home v Menai Bridge. UNDER 14s AT CAE COB (16/10/09) Tomorrow's Tesco Under 13s Cup game against Amlwch is at Cae Cob and not away as originally reported. Kick-off is 10.30 am. UNDER 7's TRAINING (13/10/09) Rob Berry has been in touch to say that the Under 7s will now be training at Plas Arthur, Llangefni on Monday evenings from 6 pm until 7 pm starting next Monday 19th October due to the nights drawing in. GLAN UNDER 9s OFF TO A FLYER (13/10/09) Andrew reports: Glan entertained Dreigiau Llangeni at Cae Cob on Sunday afternoon and it turned out to be a great all round squad performance by the boys in their first game of the season. After a hectic start Glan soon settled down and got into a nice rhythm which saw some neat passing and movement resulting in a couple of efforts on goal. However, it didn't take long before the deadlock was broken and as the boys' confidence grew they raced to a 4-0 half time lead. After the break the good work continued with more nice passing and crosses from the wings, one such passage of play resulting in the goal of the game, a headed goal by Kieran. The final score was reward for the boys' hard work on the training ground through the summer, although credit must be given to a younger and less experienced Llangefni side who battled to the final whistle with special mention to their keeper who bravely dived at the feet of our strikers on a few occasions. The goal scorers were Mike (3), Kieran (2), Harri (2), David (2), Kyle (1) and Robert (1). ROBIN SEES AN IMPROVEMENT (11/10/09) Robin reports: Trearddur Bay Colts 6 Glantraeth 2. The under 14's were away again at Trearddur Bay this time the opposition being the second year outfit Colts. Thus one expected a rout! The match kicked off and the colts squandered early chances. Then after 10 minutes Glan scored after pressure from Bobby and Cai the ball was crossed for Dion Parry to slot home. One nil Glan. The midfield trio Carwyn, Dion and Dion J then started to pass and the attack gathered steam only for the final pass to go awry. After 20 minutes the Colts equalised from a breakaway then quickly added a stunning second. Glan did not give in and had a couple of chances before the Colts scored again. They then scored a couple of minutes from half time as a long range effort struck the bar and dropped in via Dewi's back. Glan had no luck!. The second half started with all subs being used and maybe Glan lost their pattern and Trearddur scored a fifth. Glan were not beaten yet and stormed downfield for Cai to latch on to the keepers error to lash the ball into the net. Game on again! Glan competed well for the last quarter the defence sticking manfully to the task and the midfield at times outshining their counterparts. Alas Trearddur scored at the death to complete the scoring. It was a sporting match well contested and the Glan squad can be proud of the performance as there was a definite improvement. The whole squad as an unit are coming together. Cai was given man of the match by the opposition, yes a striker! Proof we're getting better! Next training Cae Cob 5.45 Thursday 15-10-09. Next match Tesco cup under 13's. SEVEN UP FOR TWELVES ![]() ![]() MEETING TUESDAY (05/10/09) There is a Glantraeth Juniors' Committee Meeting at Ysgol Bodorgan this Tuesday (tomorrow). UNDER 14s LOSE OUT TO TREARDDUR BAY (04/10/09) Robin reports Trearddur Bay Juniors 7 Glantraeth Juniors 1 - On a gusty morning Trearddur got the match under way and for ten minutes honours were even. Then Trearddur sprung the offside trap open with a deep run which was well finished. Glan pressed for an equaliser and were soon level as a back pass was pounced on by Cai who finished cooly, Glan had a period of pressure and from a free kick should have converted as both a header and shot went wide. Trearddur pressed downfield and from sloppy defending scored twice before half time. After the restart Trearddur scored early but Glan were not finished as they attempted to attack Carwyn was brought down outside the area but Cai blasted over then Cai's shot was headed off the line before Gwern and Dion Parry nearly struck. Trearddur broke away and scored on the break. They then scored from a corner with the shot going in off the post. Substitutions were made during the match which gave everyone a turn out before the Tesco Cup. Trearddur scored their final goal in the last minute. It was a sporting match and maybe the score flattered the winners as Glan gave a good account football wise and gave 100% but fitness and speed proved crucial during the match. The squad as an unit performed far better and James was nominated man of the match by the opposition which broke Dewi's run of three man of the matches. Lets see if the midfield and strikers can gain the honour soon! HARSH SCORELINE FOR 16s ![]() TOUGH TEST FOR UNDER 14s (27/09/09) Robin reports: Llangoed 12 Glan Under 14s 0 On a bright sunny morning Glan travelled to Llangoed. Glan were without squad members thus enabling others to have an opportunity. Llangoed struck after 2 minutes and after 20 mins were 4 up. By half time the Glan lads had started to play, pity there were two errors to give easy goals away. After half time Llangoed continued to attack and scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the second half. Glan gave every member an opportunity and thus lost shape and pattern and by the end had conceded 12. Llangoed had an all second year eleven and this accounted in part for the result but they are certainly the best outfit the Glan lads have played this season. There were glimpses of promise during the match for Glan and there were some good performances. Dewi again played well whilst Sam and James gave 100% and never gave up and this certainly rubbed off on the other members. The lads have plenty of spirit and performances will improve. Well done to under 16's a good performance they are getting there! UNDER 14s IMPROVING (21/09/09) Glan Under 14s 0 Hoyhead 5 - Robin reports: This week Glan were up against Holyhead probably one of the best outfits in the league. Glan held their own for the first 15 minutes and started well. Then Holyhead pressed and from an acute angle scored. Dewi then saved well on a number of occasions but the Gan defence was opened by a slick move. A third quickly followed but Glan regained some composure before half time. After some tactical manouvers the Glan lads held out for most of the second half only to concede ten minutes from time and in the last five minutes Holyhead completed the scoring. The Glan lads tried to press forward but there was no consolation goal. The lads are improving they gave 100% effort and this week with a full compliment of subs it was far easier on all the lads. Considering that Holyhead are the early league leaders the performance was promising as we have a young side. Well done to all the lads and thanks also to Chris and Kelv plus all the parents who gave great support and Lynwen who ran the cafe. Training Thursday Under 14's Cae Cob 6.00p.m. Next Match at Llangoed 26-9-09 A BIG THANK YOU (14/09/09) Robin wants to say a big thank you to all parents who supported the Under 14s on Saturday plus Chris for running the line, plus Francis, Kev and Mike and also Steve for his support.
