2007 Game 8 Vs Edinburgh

Final Score

Glasgow Tigers 28

Edinburgh Wolves 8

With the Edinburgh side having the advantage in the last two encounters it was a surprise to see the Tigers march down the field on their first drive and score a touchdown on a two yard run from Iain "Sparky" Dick. The extra point run was stopped but the Glasgow side had a 6 - 0 advantage.

The Tigers were to dominate the first half and soon doubled their score when linebacker Peter Fleming intercepted a wayward Glendinning pass and then returned it forty yards for another touchdown. Again the Wolves defense stopped the conversion attempt. On the Wolves next drive, Fleming had another interception, this time taking the ball back for sixteen yards before being tackled.

The wet and blustery conditions did not help any passing attempts from either team , so the Tigers stuck to the ground game using their speedster "Sparky", who ended the day with 28 carries for 172 yards, to eat up the yards and they went further ahead in the second quarter when Graeme Clee bulldozed his way through a ruck of Wolves defenders for another Tigers touchdown. Sparky then added the conversion run and a 20 - 0 halftime lead.

The third quarter saw a different Wolves side and behind quarterback Campbell Lewis they began to cause the Glasgow defense a few problems and move the ball. Just as the fourth quarter began, Edinburgh scored when running back James Foster ran in from two yards out. Quarterback Lewis then passed to receiver Ben Hutton for the conversion to make it 8 - 20. The Tigers came right back on the next drive and ended it when Clee added another touchdown, this time around the left side from 10 yards out. Tigers quarterback Ally Choat then lofted a pass to Ryan McCluskey for the conversion and a 28 – 8 lead. Both sides then traded the ball and mainly the Tigers defense held firm for a fine win. The 172 yards gained by "Sparky" takes him to 1,069 yards for the season.

Offensive Coordinator Graeme Clee, who had 10 carries for 110 yards and 2
touchdowns, said after the game; " I couldn't have asked for more from our offensive unit today, we had good blocking and some great drives, added to that were some excellent stops by our defense, a fine all round performance."
