Draft rendezvous
Fort Snelling.

Mrs. U. W. Emery

Dear Wife,-

The calculation is for us to start for the Sunny South tomorrow. My health is good, my spirits somewhat elated at the prospect of traveling. We are to go to the Third Minn. Which is in Ark. I understand. In fact the captain of that Regiment told me so. I feel quite pleased at the idea of going to the Third as the Forth to which it was thought we were going to be sent are strangers to me. I received twenty-five dollars yesterday. I enclose fifteen dollars to you. You know that I spoke about sending some money to Father. But I concluded that it was best to keep ten dollars as we may not be paid for some time. As I write in haste to you please excuse mistakes. Respects to the folks.
Your affectionate husband
Levi Emery.
