General Information

Sham was the foundation mare at Glenardon, and although she has now moved on her legend will live on for some time yet. In fact her story is a legend in itself.

Sham was given to us after producing five foals for Colleen Morrison, and immediately became the foundation mare of the stud where the aim was to breed all round ponies. The choice of stallions was easy, they had to have nice presence, attitude and a realistic stud fee.

Progeny

Sham produced eleven foals for us; Jubliee (Dellmount Santea), Intuition (Kuriheka Nomad), Belladuse (Kuriheka Nomad), Shazam (Apsley National Title), Captain Snooze (Broadgate Just So),  Christmas Folly (Bramhall Desert Eagle), Sir Callaghan (Apsley National Title), Silhouette (Eastdale Greek Legend), Mr Cosmo (Llanina Morning Blaze), Cleo (Llanina Morning Blaze) and Skyzam (Glen Cree Accolade).

All progeny have performed very well and their records speak for them selves.  All stock shown in-hand as youngsters were multi-champion winners.

Jubliee, Belladuse, Shazam, and Captain Snooze have over the years been put down due to injury or illness.  Belladuse and Jubliee never had the opportunity to reach their potential under saddle after a very successful in-hand career.  Neighbour Kathleen Mitchell rode Shazam to B Grade Show Jumping and Open Eventing with numerous championships on the flat.  Sadly however, before this pony reached her best was put down due to a twisted bowel.  Captain Snooze was put down as a youngster after suffering a brain haemorrhage after a very short but successful in-hand career.

Silhouette suffered a nasty injury, which headed remarkably well and is now being successfully competed by Gina Hore of Kyeburn.

Sir Callaghan competed very successfully and is now with the Crowe Family. Callaghan has also three progeny on the ground, High Spirits has since been sold to Blenheim and Our Donavan to Danniverke.

Intuition competed very successfully as an all-rounder. Was sold in 2001 in-foal to Connemara stallion Waterfall Dan. Now currently in Waimate with Sara Frew.

In 1993, sham foaled twins by Llanina Morning Blaze (Cosmo and Cleo). Both competed successfully before being sold, Cosmo now in Southland, Cleo in Auckland

Christmas Folly was exported to a wonderful family in Japan and is being successfully competed by Kumiko Inoue.

Four of her foals have been presented for inspection by the NZRP and all have passed. These ponies being; Shazam, Christmas Folly, Sir Callaghan and Skyzam.
