We spent the day at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Nevada to take the Free Subgun Training Course. Arriving at 7:30, some breakfast was supplied and we had a few of the instructors telling us about Front Sight and it origins. Then Dr. Piazza spoke and filled us in on his ideas for the Front Sight Community, and what we were going to be doing on this day. After going over the safety issues of full-auto weapons, we all went outside for dry fire practice.

For about two hours the two groups learned how to hold the weapon and refine their stance for maximum support while firing. Stances included ready, low ready, high ready and field ready positions.

Time to fire! We loaded up and started to learn how to modulate 2-3 rounds with one trigger pull. From there we did some practice using the different stances, and ending up doing "Failure To Stop Drills". These started off by using targets that moved sideways from us after the first engagement. If they returned to us we treated it as a FTS.

This year they used 9mm UZI's and we got to shoot for about three hours. Below is a photo of the model Uzi we used, and you can just click the weapon for some history on the Uzi.

The History Channel runs a show called Tales of the Gun and I captured a couple of detailed closeups from the show. These are shown without the shoulder stock, and in the first vidcap, you can see some brass being ejected. The second shows the way the bolt handle was cut so you can still see down the sights while firing.

Here are some pictures of the day at Front Sight and our final certifications.
