25th November

On a wet and cold Saturday morning in Brenagh, Glenswilly and Buncrana supporters turned out in good numbers to see their teams play in the league decider. With both teams already promoted the stage was set for a cracking game but in the end due mostly to the wet pitch and bad weather conditions it turned into a dull and at times boring spectacle. To be fair to both teams they tried to play good football, which was helped by fine and sensible referring by Danny Langan. The final score was Glenswilly 0-6 Buncrana 0-10.
The Glen Team was Brian Gafney, Joe Devine, Barry Canning, Shaun Bruke, John McFadden, Paddy Devine, Martin McGinley, Neil Gallagher(0-1), Gerard McGrenra(0-4), Peadar Toner, Harry Gallagher, John Bernard McGheenin, Colm Kelly , Charlie Bonner, Ciaran Bonner(0-1). Subs Brendan Gallagher for Barry Canning (5 mins)  Daniel Gallagher for Charlie Bonner (half time)   Gary McDaid for Peadar Toner (55 mins)

The senior game was preceded by a good reserve game, which Buncrana needed to win to clinch the league. Glenswilly lead throughout the game right up to the last minute of the game when Buncrana struck a late goal. A great team performance was given by this young side with Barry Molloy and Brendan Walsh commanding the middle of the park, the final score was Glenswilly 0-5 Buncrana 1-04 scorers for Glen were Barry Molloy, Brendan Walsh, Gary Mc Fadden, Martin Sweeney and Martin Gallagher one point each. Referee was Fergal Marley who had a good game.

The Lotto numbers this week were, 5,8,23,24 match 3 winner was Shea Farrell Barrack Next week’s jackpot is 2,760 euro.

On Saturday last the 9th November, the Minors took to the field again in Dunfanaghy against Termon in the Northern League Final. In what proved to be a very tight first half, Glen led at half time 0-3 to 0-2, with two great scores coming from the recalled Gary Mc Fadden and a wonderful free from the ground by captain John Bernard Mc Geehan. The Glen was playing into the wind in the second half and they put in a tremendous effort covering every blade of grass on the field. They dominated in all areas with three scores coming form Ciaran Bonner, another from Gary Mc Fadden from a free at an acute angle, one from Colm Farrell, and a fisted effort from Darren Mc Ginley. The full time score was Glenswilly 0-9 Termon 0-4. Unfortunately there was no one there from the Northern Minor Board to make the presentation, nor was there any message sent to the management of either team. This sums up the organisation and communication within the board this year, and it was unfair to punish the players after putting in such an awesome effort in the game. They felt un-rewarded for their gallant displays. Best for Glenswilly were Ciaran Bonner and the Mc Fadden brothers, Christopher and Gary. The Glenswilly team was Mark Glackin, Paddy Mc Connell, Barry Molloy, Joseph Gibbons, Christopher Mc Fadden, Sean Burke, Ciaran Molloy, Martin Gallagher, Donal Kelly, Rory Gill (Caolon Kelly), John Bernard Mc Geehan, Colm Farrell, Darren Mc Ginley, Gary Mc Fadden, Ciaran Bonner.
